We went there on Fri night around 6:15. Although it looked like everything was full there was not much of a selection and not much looked appetizing. The wonton soup was way over salted even for me, the rest of the food was not flavoured at all. The fish was dry and bland, the chicken the same, there was only one shrimp dish and the shrimp were not pealed. The ribs looked like leather and the rice was dry and unflavoured. The only thing mildly edible was the nachos and cheese which my wife tried, I had by then given up. Very disappointed as we had looked forward to a nice buffet while in Edmonton. I prefer buffets but this place doesn't qualify. Minimal choices and none worth trying. At these prices it should have been superb. It would be overpriced at $3.99 per person but at over $24. It is highway robbery. To even give this place a star rating is over rated it should be minus 2 stars. We since spoke to local family and they tell us this place has always been terrible. How it could ever get a good review is suspicious.

Had a large reservation for lunch and they were absolutely awesome. The server was great, very helpful and he was always clearing our dishes out of our way. The food was good, and the roast beef was excellent. First time I ever The restuarant was very neat and tidy. I would definely recommend this place for lunch. Only $13.99 and you have alot of choices.

For a buffet restaurant the title says it all. Very clean and upscale. The service was good and the staff were polite and always smiling. They have a large selection of items and I had found myself trying just about everything. The chocolate fountain is awesome. Some of these reviews are really out to lunch, I found this place to be very nice and very clean.

I had decided to try buffet royale after many of my friends had raved about their awesome experience at the gateway location. They've done some major renovations! When you walk through the front doors your greeted warmly with a smiling hostess ready to seat you. You are given the choice of preference between a booth or table which you do not get a lot at other establishments. Once we were sat our server Harlan greeted us and presented us with a selection of drink suggestions in which we decided on a blue parrot and a Shirley temple. I definitely wasn't disappointed, the blue parrot had bright colors like a parrot and tasted amazing. Both of us then got up and helped ourselves. They have a selection to choose from of Ukrainian food, soups, Chinese food, seafood, salads, a chocolate fountain loaded with a variety of fruit, desserts, etc. During our meal Alex the manager visited our table inquiring how everything was. She was very friendly and offered to bring us anything else we needed! At the end of the meal when paying we even got fortune cookies which are my favorite!! The bathrooms and buffet were very clean abd up to standards. Everything tasted great and the service was phenomenal. I will be recommending Buffet Royale to all my friends.

Ignore the other reviews, they are old! Buffet Royale is now amazing! The recently renovated and it is very, very nice. The staff are friendly and the food is great. Such a huge slection of very tasty food. The shrimp, rotisserie chicken and the bbq ribs topped my list. Great Chinese food as well. Salads were fresh. Desserts were plentiful. New ice cream sundae station was a hit with my kids. and of course, the chocolate fountain......

The price on Fathers Day was not explained very good. We were needless to say dumbfounded when we got our bill! $24.99 for adults and $9.99 for children. Unbelievable! They had signs up but it gave the impression you could have the deluxe or the regular buffet. When we asked management about it they were very cold and said not to worry about a tip. Seriously.. do you think we would have left one!!! We will never be back and will tell others to beware!

Nasty Nsaty Nsaty, and the owners make their staff work like 120 hours and dont pay overtime, plus servers cant even go for a smoke on a 8 hour shift, cause they dont beleive in breaks,,owner is a PERVERT and the place is a dIRTY HOLE

i would never, and i mean never go back. To see any decent reviews of this establishment is very surprising. When the staff says they have had many complaints lately and they dont eat there you know somethings wrong. This place should close to make room for something better!

Our family recently held a large family gathering at Buffet Royale. It was nice to be seated in the smaller more intimate dining room. We even were able to take pictures in front of the lovely fireplace in the foyer.

I personally love the ribs and schezuan beef and the chocolate fountain is fabulous with high quality chocolate! The renovations at the Gateway Blvd location are a nice upgrade. Accommodating of a variety of group sizes, from individuals to larger groups. :)

I personally enjoy eating seafood but know how much it can cost at groceries, but for 16.99 on a monday wednesday or friday you can have all you can eat CRAB without having the trouble of cooking it at home! Among, that you get your ribs, chinese, rotisserie chicken, yummy fish fillet! You cannot go wrong.Plus the restaurant has been recently renovated and it looks very classy with the new booths in place. AWESOME dining!

the place has been renovated looks great not so much like a borring place to eat they have put up booths and nice comfortable chairs looks really cozy. The food is great and a good price for sea food included like the all you can eat crab or shrimp depending on the day.A great place to have a reservation for a party.Aswell as the service is pretty good to.I would highly reccomend stopping by buffet royale.

I love going to the buffett royale there is always so many choices.I like the all you can eat shrimp and crab.the ribs are another one of my favorites there.The north side resturant on fort road is so fancy now and the staff are so friendly and I don't have to wait for my food to get cooked.

I just went to Buffet Royale with my family and I was very impressed with the recent renovations. This restaurant used to look kind of like a cafeteria but now it can be classed as elegant dining! The service was good. The food was amazing! I have never been to a buffet that offered such a selection for a reasonable price. The seafood and the rotisserie chicken were my favorites. My husband was thrilled to see borsch on the buffet. My kids can't stop talking about the cool chocolate fountain. I would highly recommend this restaurant. For any of you people that may have had a bad experience in the past, I suggest you give Buffet Royale another try.

Please, don't go. Yes, it is THAT bad. I swear any fast food place is better. I can not believe they are still operate.

I only have been to 3 Edmonton's buffet.
The best was Mayfield dinner and theater.
Second was New Asian village. That was very boring and small but I liked the taste in general.
Third was Buffet Royal. My GOD!. If I could give it -5 stars I would.
Stay away!!!

Went in for dinner on Oct. 18. The food was terrible and the service was from hell. We were not checked on to refill our drinks and when we decided to leave we had to wait in line with other people to pay because the girl that was at the till could not do simple math. If you want real bad food and a service from hell this is the place for you.

Myself, my husband and two hungry teenage boys went to Buffet Royale on Gateway Blvd last night.

Long story short, food was horrible, tasted and looked like it had been sitting for days. And don't even get me started on the fondue fountain, very disturbing!

Just when I was attempting to try to eat something, our waitress came and asked me to pay our bill as she was getting off shift. So in the middle of what is loosely called dinner, I had to get up and go to the counter to pay as I was using debit.

Our bill was $100 including gratuity. None of us could even eat $5.00 worth of food, let alone $100. All of us spent the rest of the night popping Tums and Pepto Bismol.

Then when we were leaving the same waitress told me she got yelled at for asking me to pay my bill?

If you want terrible food at an unreasonable price then this is the place for you!
