If I could give them 10 stars, I would! Joe was amazing at handling our claim for water damage. It was a lengthy process, however, it was worth it in the end. I would recommend him any day of the week. Thank you so much for getting our house back to normal again!

My insurance company, UPCIC, seriously lowballed my family after flood damage. Joe took our case and promised that he would get us what we fairly deserved. Joe fought for us tooth and nail when the insurance company repeatedly introduced obstacles and at times would completely ignore us. Joe was a shark and ensured that we got what we needed to fix our house. He got them to pay to relocate us as well, which they had no intention on doing. FTPA were able to secure us over quadruple Universal Property and Casualty Insurance's initial lowball payment for repairs. Deal with extreme confidence. Joe and Eileen are consummate professionals and I would gladly work with them again and recommend them to everyone who has to deal with insurance companies. It pays to have an adjuster on your side like the insurance company has on their own.

Our home is located on the Atlantic coast in North Carolina and was damaged during Hurricane Florence in September, 2018. The storm stalled and battered our home with wind-driven rain for 3 days, causing very significant damage. When we returned to the home a week later, I knew this would be a difficult process.

At first, I attempted to work directly with my insurance company and filed a claim myself. I met with their field-adjuster and also worked with the desk-adjuster in good faith. They initially paid a lowball settlement, willing to pay for only “damage they could see”. They refused to negotiate, became difficult to contact and ever-more impossible to deal with after my initial round with them. I needed help, reached out to For the Public Adjusters, and spoke with Joe Brennan.

During our very first call, Joe spent over an hour talking with me and offered lots of useful advice. We reviewed my insurance policy, discussed policy limits, reviewed photos, relevant documents and came up with a plan. Next he and his team visited the home several times to inspect and document the damage. Joe recommended additional mitigation where we uncovered even more damage. A hurricane of this magnitude forces water everywhere; we found it and Joe documented everything.

Then came the hard work that would prove invaluable. Joe prepared a 92-page report of damages that became the claim’s foundation. That combined with countless photos, an engineering report, contractor letters, estimates, documentation on code issues and other supporting information made for a claim that was difficult to refute. Every adjuster we were assigned quickly became overwhelmed as our claim was passed from one adjuster to the next at the Insurance Company. The claim was described as “excessive” and “inappropriately increasing in scope over time” by the last adjuster. It did increase in scope over time after Joe became involved and we never backed down because our claim was 100% substantiated. We filed two complaints with the NCDOI and began discussing a lawsuit. But we also discussed a settlement if the opportunity came up. Finally, the claim was assigned to an outside independent firm and that is where we eventually prevailed after another round of hard work. We didn’t settle for less, we won our claim.

Throughout the process, Joe had a very high case-load and sometimes staying in touch was a challenge, but he always had my best interests in mind. He got with me when it mattered and skillfully prepared me for a frustrating process; the claim took 18 months to settle on acceptable terms. Joe knows this business inside and out and proved it many times over; the insurer played all types of games with us and he called them on every move. He called them on every trick. When our claim was assigned to the Independent General Adjuster, I believe it was because the insurance company was ill-equipped to deal with our claim. Joe now had the “decision-maker” dealing with us and we all worked together.

In the end, our settlement was more than 100% of what we claimed for the Dwelling, Other-Structures and Code Compliance. This equates to more than 18 times the original settlement or a 95% increase. We reached policy-limits in two areas and because of this we paid no deductible. Joe also helped me settle my Loss-of-Use claim, which was beyond the scope of our agreement but described by him as “the fair thing to do”.

So, thank you to Joe Brennan and For The Public Adjusters for your professionalism and friendship helping us dealing with the aftermath of this disaster. You ensured my wife and I were treated with dignity and respect in a process that is too-often indecent for the insured.

If I could have done just one thing differently, I would have involved FTPA from day-one of the catastrophe-claims process. Joe Brennan is the best in the business and I highly recommend him.

My insurance company estimated just our dwelling at $15,000..... Joe and David got us over $148,000+! I can be impatient at times and Joe and David were always courteous and answered all my questions in a timely manner. I cant wait to get back in my home. Joe has been an incredible asset for us in this difficult time. We can't imagine having to deal with our insurance without him. He and his team have gone above and beyond. They more than doubled the estimate originally given to us by our insurance company, and because of them we feel confident we have gotten what we need to rebuild our house after this hurricane without having to come out of pocket.
