We are lucky we didn't get in a serious car accident

We bought a 2012 Tundra here for $14,350, needed for towing our camper. Within 50 miles, the check engine light was on. Within a week, we had check engine, A/C oil temp, and trans pressure lights firing at once, an engine clicking, and battery terminals so loose they kept disconnecting — because nobody actually inspected this truck before selling it to a family towing across the country.

When we finally got it into a shop: brakes at less than 2mm — dangerously worn, on a truck they knew we'd be hauling up and down mountains. Transmission fluid so old and gritty a lifelong mechanic said no shop would ever have signed off on it. We paid over $3,000 out of pocket to make this truck safe to drive. To their credit, after a lot of pushback, they did cover the cost of new brakes, but everything else came out of our pocket.

After that we had more check engine lights, took it to a Toyota dealer where found out Performance Auto's mechanic's "repair" was taped-together hoses and a missing hose clamp. The kind of fix "meant to limp along a couple months, not last." A Toyota dealer had to redo it. Another $200. And the check engine light for that exact same system came back a second time, on top of that — another $600 to fix. Trey initially said he'd be open to talking about it. Then he stopped answering calls and texts entirely.

Trey, our salesman, talked around every direct question about brakes, oil, and maintenance history, used a temp plate to hide a large scratch. He told us the brakes were at least 50% to us in person when asked.

We have photos of the brakes, the transmission fluid, and check engine lights. This isn't one bad part, it's a pattern of a dealer that doesn't inspect, doesn't disclose, and disappears the moment you need them to stand behind what they sold you. There's a reason they do not offer a warranty.

Go to CarMart360 or literally anywhere that gives you a real Carfax and a written inspection. Do not trust this lot with your safety.

Well I just write this as a pay attention warning! I recently connected with Trey via Facebook marketplace about the 2010 they have for sale currently. The asking price is 6900.00+, I went there with $5000.00 in cash Trey knew that was my offer via our messages and he led me to believe that the offer was being considered. When I arrived 2 major issues stood out. 1, broken lug nut on front right tire and based on the ware on the tires it needs a front end alignment & potentially other front end work. It also needs a new windshield. Based on the Edmonds dealer selling value and the above mentioned concerns, my offer was definitely fair and reasonable. Trey wasn’t there, his dad and another man were. The taller man whose name I cannot remember, didn’t even consider my offer and wanted to show me other vehicles. He acknowledged that he knew about the snapped lug nut and said he was not going to let it leave the lot like that yet it’s been on marketplace for over a month! Then when I messaged Trey that I wasted my time he said “you know you’re buying cheap used car right”. Then he informed me that I was apparently screaming at his co workers. I speak loudly, I assure you if I were screaming they would have known it. I did yell across the parking lot while they stood inside that it was a waste and of my time for Trey to lead me to believe my offer was being considered. However it was not screaming at anyone and I didn’t cause a scene which I could have and have before but was actually being well behaved! Lots of other used car dealers in town so for me this place isn’t where I’ll be spending my money.

We got the pleasure of working with Mel, and man what an amazing experience from start to finish!! There was no pushing, or the typical sales pitch, and just a good ol fashion deal!! He even went out of his way to come back down after hours to show us a pickup we were super interested in, and finished the sale with no attitude!!
