They take care of you to the best of their ability. Grateful for them.

The doctors, emergency room, and staff are great. Unfortunately, the parking situation is terrible. I drove around the lot for 30 minutes trying to find a space. This has been a problem for years. Please consider getting funding for a parking garage for the VA nearby. Parking should be abundant and available for all, especially your veterans. Honestly, it deters us from coming into the building to seek treatment.

Worst place to come and visit you can truly see the lack of funding and also no parking. Also loss of employees from the rift from the current administration! Worst government spending for a damn entrance over more parking! Government waste!

I have used the services of the Fresno VA hospital for a couple of decades now. I couldn't be more grateful for the manner in which I have been treated there since. I was shocked to see some of the 1-2 star reviews, as that has never been my experience. Perhaps other people haven't dealt with private health care (the kind you actually have to pay for) or Medicare etc. to gain a sense of overall perspective.
A few months ago, I tripped over one of my dogs and slammed my open hand on a metal burner in the attempt to balance myself. After waiting on a bed in a hospital corridor for approximately 7 hours, while watching arrestees be attended to, a trainee doctor arrived and spent 5 minutes scrubbing the blisters off my third degree burns and wrapping my hand up (badly). The wrapping was so poorly done I had to go to the VA the next day to get it done right.
The most attention I ever received during that unfortunate visit was given by a billing person who ran out to meet me before I took an uber home. A couple of weeks later I got a bill for almost $37,000.
The VA blocked that bill and protected me from the greed of private health care.
We as Veterans need to express more gratitude for the people that work at these facilities. So many of them are fellow veterans themselves. And the ones that aren't take pay cuts to service: us.
It might not be the 'ideal' service you might think you deserve, but if you haven't ever dealt with what is outside of this incredible benefit, you lack perspective on how amazing the VA actually is.
I have experienced the type of 'service' and 'bills' outside of the VA hospital, and it really helps me appreciate just how amazing the Fresno VA facility is. I never like to go to hospital, but when I have to, I have no issue waiting a couple of hours to allow people who actually care about your health to run tests rather than just allocate expensive pain subscriptions to address the 'symptoms'.
The Fresno VA is a very special place. And I trust them. Always will. Huge shout out to Dr. Pettigrew in the emergency clinic. What an amazing and caring human being.

Dr. Jeannette RYLANDER, of Women's Primary Care, is a remarkable, diligent asset to VA Fresno. The doctor, including the staff, are experts in navigating difficult hurdles highlighted within hospital systems, whether private of government facilities. Highly recommend the doctor and staff, and the commitment to patient care and professionalism.
