Beware of Hidden “Miscellaneous” Charges at Hi Tech Carstar.

When they quoted me an estimate for replacing the lock cylinder in one door, it didn’t include “miscellaneous” charges like rekeying the lock and pre/post-repair scans—which you’d think would be covered under parts and labor.

These surprise fees ended up costing as much as the initial quote, turning a straightforward repair into a budget-busting ordeal.

Top notch service here! Started out with the link between my insurance (USAA) and Carstar. Easy and communication was outstanding. The tech (Christian) was phenomenal, from explaining the process to maintaining status updates till the car was finish! The front office secretary was also very helpful, coordinated the rental and was very helpful in ensuring all my info was accurate with the insurance company! Great experience, the smoothest so far! As a first time accident that happened to me. I didn’t really know what to do first the driver’s insurance (progressive) who’s at fault offered me $625 and not giving me a proper estimate. Called my insurance STATE FARM then refer me to the closest repair shop. Went to CARSTAR Hi-tech Spanaway gave me detailed estimate and they also communicate with my insurance STATE FARM and never failed to update me throughout the process.They did a fantastic job well done. Place is neat and clean, very welcoming environment front desk also help me with my rental car return to enterprise rental car. Shane and the team at CARSTAR HI-TECH in Spanaway, WA went above and beyond my expectations! My vehicle was repaired well before the expected completion date and came out looking just as good as new and clean, too. I was provided with updates throughout the entire process and they also took care of my loaner vehicle being returned to the rent-a-car company.
