Last week, I laid our loved one to rest through your services and want to thank you so much for you help, compassion and kindness from working with you by phone and email from TX, to her preparation and final service. If I were still in PA, I would use you for mine as well. Very professional yet caring. Thank you.

This funeral home works with amedisys(hospice) through the central pennsylvania cremation society to help families in need that can't afford to cremate their loved ones that have passed. Stephen was very great and thorough with the whole process.

My husband's handling by Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home was flawless. They arranged to pick him up within the hour after passing, once we had our time alone with him. I dealt with Lisa Donahue specifically, and she was extremely kind, compassionate and efficient. She explained everything in detail and kept in contact through every step. I also have my prearranged plans with them as well. Grateful for their compassion. Thank you.

Planning my dad’s funeral was something I never thought I’d be ready for, but Ashtin at Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home helped my brother & I through it with so much kindness and care. I live out of state which can make the process even more challenging, but Ashtin assisted with every question and every request I had with sincere understanding and willingness to help. Every step, detail and arrangement was handled by her with the utmost dignity and professionalism. She wasn’t just doing her job — she truly understood what my family was feeling and made sure every part of the service honored my dad’s life. I will never forget the compassion she showed us during such a difficult time. I’m deeply thankful and would recommend Hetrick-Bitner to anyone who needs someone they can truly trust. Thank you for giving my dad a beautiful and loving farewell he deserved.

Shop around before settling on a funeral home and make sure if your love one is in a retirement home that they do not release their body without your permission. My grandmother passed away unexpectedly and as her power of attorney, I was not informed that she was ushered away by this funeral home; who openly accepted her without having a next of kin listed when she should have been sent straight to to coroner as an unclaimed person. But, this plays into the next piece of information I will share.
This funeral home has a huge conflict of interest. Graham Hetrick, one of the partners, is the Dauphin county coroner and is essentially double dipping by being paid by the county to declare death and then taking in profits from services within the funeral home.
On top of this, they are extremely over priced based on 3 other funeral homes I called. $1900 for a cremation with no service and no urn and then complete unprofessionalism when you let them know that you cannot afford their services and need to go elsewhere. They essentially tried to bully me into using their services after I found a more affordable funeral home when I stated from the start that $1900 was way out of my budget. They stated they could have worked with me if I wasn't able to afford $1900; however, there was no mentioning of this until my business was going elsewhere. With them, it is anything to make a dollar and they do not care about your loved one at all.
A quick mention that no one gave them permission to have my grandmother's body in the first place and that I would reach out to an attorney changed their tone quite a bit. They released my grandmother without a fight or charge to me.
