Assisting Hands talks a good game but…your first contact is with a really nice sounding women, she appears to be compassionate and experienced in her field of home care. She will answer all your questions with ease, then everything changes after that. The reason for one star ⭐️ is because you can’t leave a review with NO stars. We had problems with caregivers from the very first day. The caregiver we were introduced to suddenly couldn’t come on our previously agreed to date, so a substitute was sent instead. We found the caregivers to be only interested in sitting quietly looking at their phones. We wanted companionship. They were all young women and didn’t take any interest in my 85 year old mother during their four hour visits. We tried different caregivers over the contracted period, and we never found a match for mom. One caregiver stole a pair of 14K gold earrings. We told Assisting Hands, we confronted the the caregiver, we provided a picture of the earrings but…the earrings never returned. The caregiver was given the opportunity to return them without consequence but she looked me straight in the eye and never even flinched—a true hardened criminal can do that and she showed zero remorse nor concern over the matter—she just remained quiet and returned to scrolling on her phone. They were the only piece of jewelry in the house. We had removed all others as a precaution and locked them in a safe at my house instead of moms. But my mom really wanted her favorite earrings left in a special dish on her bedside table. In addition, Months after our service contract ended, Assisting Hands kept billing for services not rendered. I had to call their very unhelpful office staff, month after month, to get the charges reversed. Eventually, it ended up being easier to close the entire bank account altogether. By the way, each time I finally got through to the billing folks, they would promise me they had taken care of the problem and it would not happen again but… ☹️
I really wish I could give you hope in this field of home caregiving. I had been taking care of my mom and really needed a few hours, a couple days a week to deal with my compassion fatigue. I had been her full time caregiver for over a year. This was the one Company no one had warned me against. But truly now I think they are all rubbish. In the end, I continued to care for my dear mother until she died peacefully in her sleep. She felt badly she shared with me one day, that I retired early and bought a house down the street to be nearer to her so I could take care of her in the way she deserved. In the end, I don’t regret a single thing, except allowing Assisting Hands to talk their good game and sell me a bill of goods that wasn’t GOOD AT ALL.

Michael Roberts is absolutely a miracle worker! He came highly recommended by close family friends and he has helped totally beyond my expectations. He recommended services we never ever knew were available to mom. I can’t say enough. He knows his stuff and gets it done. He is a true miracle worker not to mention a very kind person. Josefina Torres is a good caretaker. She takes care of all the stuff and she does her job properly and thoroughly. This is her 3rd week with us, and it’s been a great experience until now.

My husband is 101 1/2 years old and a WWII veteran. We are in need of more help around the house in Kings Point and had no idea how to get it. Michal at Assisting Hands Home care entered our life through Bob’s Vets which is a once a week breakfast with 80-100 other veterans. He took the reins and got us in touch with the proper VA people. We will be getting the help we need in order to stay in our own home and enjoy the rest of our lives. If you need help Michal is the VA advocate you need.

Michael Roberts (Geriatric Care Manager) was introduced to my family and we were extremely impressed. In the first 5 hours after I was introduced to Michael of Assisting Hands Home Care he helped simplify the daunting task of caring for my elderly parents who were just approved for Medicaid. And I’m confident he will continue to guide me through this process. He patiently gave me a step by step outline of what I need to do over the next few days to transition them from rehab to home to receive the best and most services that they deserve and are entitled to.
