I want to start by recognizing the three movers who handled my move: Nathan, Charlie, and Abu. They were courteous, hardworking, and maintained a positive attitude throughout a very long day. Unfortunately, they arrived already exhausted because their previous move had gone significantly over schedule, but they never took that out on me and continued to work hard until everything was unloaded.

My only frustrations were with the logistics. I had gone over my move in detail with the office beforehand, including the fact that I had several very heavy, solid wood pieces of furniture. When the crew arrived, they weren’t fully equipped for everything that was needed. Fortunately, I had the tools necessary to disassemble my bed, but that should have been anticipated. A few pieces of furniture also ended up with scratches and dents during the move, which I believe was a combination of the crew being worn out from their previous job and not having all the equipment they needed.

I was offered the opportunity to postpone my move until the following day once it became clear they would be running very late, but that simply wasn’t an option for me. I also felt that the conversation with the office could have been handled a little more professionally when I explained why I couldn’t reschedule.

Overall, I’m giving three stars because of Nathan, Charlie, and Abu. They represented themselves extremely well under difficult circumstances. If I were hiring movers based solely on the crew, I would gladly work with them again. My hesitation would be with the scheduling and preparation on the company’s side.

I chose Blue Dolly over two competitors based on their written estimate: $453 (stated range $400–$575), 2 movers, arrival 12–2 PM.

The reality: the crew arrived at 1:30 PM — 90 minutes late — and finished at 6:30 PM. The final bill was ~$1,000, nearly double the estimate and well above the top of their own range.

This was a light load: ~1,000 lbs, ~35 boxes, no beds or appliances. The crew told me their previous job that morning had also been scoped at 2 hours and ran to 4 — they arrived exhausted, and it showed.

Two movers were sent to what was realistically a 3-man job. Along the way they gouged a wall at my old house and scratched a door and chipped the frame at the new one. I also called their office multiple times during business hours with no answer.

The aftermath has been worse than the move. I disputed the charges in writing with photos. First I was told a damage claim was submitted with a 4–6 week processing window; two days later the same manager wrote there was “no claim number associated with this one.” No adjustment has been offered.

My takeaway: the estimates aren’t planning tools, they’re sales tools. If you book them anyway — document everything.

Very professional from the initial phone call up to the day of delivery. They would give updates via email and texts letting me know a few days beforehand they were scheduled, right up to the day of picking up my sleeper sofa and sleeper chair that they were available to come an hour earlier. The day of pickup the two guys were very friendly and professional, they wrapped my furniture to protect it and even offered to move another piece of furniture back into place. They made very good time on delivery and again very professional when bringing my couch and chair into my cabin. I would definitely use them again if I have anything big, heavy to move.
