Honestly the room is pretty big and doesn’t seem to be dirty or none, for the cheapest hotel that’s amazing. As well the lobby has pretty nice seating. Don’t really understand why everyone says the beds suck cuz lowkey they were comfy. I give a 4/5 since it’s cheap. Pool does not work

we travel up to Vermont from Pa. pretty much every weekend and have stayed in various hotels and locations. This is the worst hotel we have stayed in in years. no breakfast, no vending machines worked, TV only had maybe 10 channels, pool was open but we dared not go in. Bathroom was sketchy at best. if you're looking for a place to stay, keep looking !!!

We booked a last-minute trip and this was the only hotel available for less than $700/night, which is the only reason we stayed here. Unfortunately, it's clear this property has fallen into serious disrepair. It's evident this building was previously used as a homeless shelter, and the transition back to a functioning hotel has been incomplete at best. This property desperately needs significant investment and care.

The condition of the hotel is poor throughout. The carpets appear not to have been cleaned in decades, and a strong, pervasive mildew smell permeates the entire property. In the middle of a Vermont winter, our room had only a thin fleece blanket on the bed, which was completely inadequate for the season. The rooms felt dingy and worn, making for an uncomfortable stay.

All amenities are closed—no pool, no restaurant, nothing. Don't expect any of the services a hotel normally provides. The only positive I can offer is that the room was at least clean enough to stay for a few days, which is the only reason this isn't a zero-star review.

Until significant renovations are mad, new carpets, proper bedding, remediation of the mildew issues, and general updates—I cannot recommend staying here. There are better options in the Rutland area worth the extra cost.

Rising from the derelict remains of a Holiday inn located in the perfect place between Newark, New Jersey and Stowe Vermont lies the Cortina inn. The location is perfect for vacation stop but the hotel itself it is less than ideal. The pictures in the review make you think you're getting this newly redone cozy bedroom. When in actuality you're getting a new Amazon metal bed frame, a fleece blanket where there is no down comforter to be found and the original 1990s furniture where the mini fridge does not fit in its own spot.
Upon first arrival at the location, the initial room key given did not open the door to my room and the original carpeting has never seen a cleaning. Smelling both of mildew and every Pall Mall that had ever been smoked in there. In addition to each room sign, having a no smoking sign but fresh cigarette smoke in the air. Upon returning to the front desk to explain the situation, the attendant there was more than helpful but initial contact had assumed we would be leaving the hotel for the night and did not offer a change in rooms first. Upon asking for a change in room, my fiance went to check out the room to make sure that the door opened and it did not smell of mildew and cigarettes. Fill the hallway still coded in the same holiday and carpeting that had never been cleaned. The room itself did not have carpeting and had what seemed to be new hardwood flooring. But as stated, the furniture was old. The bathroom and disrepair and the TV remote absolutely disgusting. The place was good enough for a one-night stay in a hopefully clean bed in a good location for our vacation. But all in all the hotel itself was found to be lacking in general cleanliness and atmosphere.
I give this stay a one star due to all of this and will make sure to not stay here in the future and encourage everyone that sees this listing and is persuaded by the price point of it. There is a reason it is so cheap.

Do yourself a favor and go to the Hampton inn that is next door.

What matters:
Mattresses bed frames and sheets seem to be brand new and clean (no bugs = always a win)

Bathrooms: the corners are a bit dirty but tub and sink and toilet were clean and they offer bath and body works toiletries

Tv worked great, there was a mini fridge and microwave

This room still had carpet - but if you’re ever walking on a hotel floor barefooted that’s a you thing. We had our slippers/socks

The hotel itself:
It’s outdated and needs a makeover but clearly they are starting with the rooms. The hallways can use a lot of help but who cares, hopefully next on their list of fixes. We didn’t walk around the place much but it was probably a really cool place in its prime days

No amenities which they stated upfront but you’re in downtown rutland close to whatever you may need.

2 adults and 1 child (2 full/queen bed) room on first floor (not sure if there were multiple floors) was fine! We didn’t ask about the pool or hot tub (idk if they are open). Needed a clean place to rest our heads before heading over to killington for the night and it did just that!

Staff: it was snowing and roads were bad, seemed like there was a staffing issue for reception. But, we’re human safety first! Staff was friendly to us

We’d come back again and try another room in the future - we liked the beds or were extremely tired. And maybe then they’ll have more amenities!
Stayed 12/26-12/27
