After reading a recent, intriguing review of this place, a friend and I felt compelled to visit here.

I can say we were pleasantly surprised, the Numero Uno Tavern is a real diamond in the rough. We were greeted with a warm welcome. The beer selection here is extensive and seems well looked after. We tried garlic chicken and vegetarian pizzas which were both very good but the barbecue chicken on Chicago deep dish base was absolutlely stand-out. The barbecue sauce must be homemade.

They possibly could have done with an extra person working for how busy it was on a Sunday afternoon. Otherwise my only regret is how long I have overlooked this place. Will be back again soon.

Ordered food for delivery (salad and pizza) on a Sunday afternoon and was expecting to receive the same level of quality as I have gotten a few times ordering here.

When my order arrived, I noticed the salad was nothing more than shredded lettuce with the usual fixings and the dressing container was absolutely tiny. I expected a salad that I am accustomed to. I also expected a bigger portion of dressing instead of having to add more of my own from the fridge. This was unacceptable!!

The pizza was stuck to the pizza box top and it looked liked someone blindly cut the pizza in a hurry.

Well, needless to say, I was a bit put off by this. I will not be returning and opting for establishments that take pride in their food and presentation.

I hope they do better for others.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Order Quality and Customer Service

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with both the quality of my recent order and the level of customer service I received.

On Tuesday, March 24, I ordered two extra-large pizzas. I want to note that this order followed a previous experience just one week prior, where I had ordered the same barbecue chicken pizza for approximately $60, and it was prepared incorrectly. When a customer orders a barbecue chicken pizza, it is reasonable to expect barbecue sauce—not marinara sauce. Due to that error, I requested a refund through DoorDash because the order was not what I had paid for.

Despite that experience, I chose to give your business another opportunity. I strongly believe in supporting small businesses, as I come from a family built on one. My father raised eight children through his small business, working tirelessly from early morning until late evening. Because of that background, I make a conscious effort to support and contribute to small, locally owned establishments.

For this reason, I decided not to order through DoorDash this time and instead called directly so I could clearly communicate my order. I explained the previous issue and emphasized that I wanted a barbecue chicken pizza prepared correctly, with extra barbecue sauce, along with bacon and pineapple. I also requested a deep-dish pizza. I was placed on hold and then informed that the deep dish comes with marinara sauce. I clearly stated that this was fine, but that I still wanted barbecue sauce—specifically extra barbecue sauce—added on top. I was told if the pizza wasn’t made correctly just to call back for a refund
Approximately 45 minutes later, my order arrived. I had been informed the total would be $74 for the two pizzas, which I accepted without issue. I work long hours from home, often missing meals, and when I do order food, I expect it to be prepared correctly. I am willing to pay for quality, but I expect accuracy in return.

. By the time I was able to check the food, part of it had already been eaten by my family. When I tried it, I immediately noticed there was no barbecue sauce. The pizza was dry, had marinara instead, and was missing key toppings, including bacon and the onions that are typically included in a barbecue chicken pizza. While pineapple had been added, the primary components of the order were incorrect.

At that point, I was left with a pizza that I had specifically called in to ensure would be made correctly, yet it still was not. I do not mind paying $74 for pizza, but I do object to paying that amount for an order that is not prepared as requested.

I called the restaurant to report the issue and was placed on hold while the manager was consulted. I was then told that the pizza had been checked and implied that my claim was inaccurate. I was instructed to bring the pizza back to the restaurant, which I did. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened in person.
I was again treated as though I was being dishonest. I requested to see the barbecue sauce being used, and what was presented did not reasonably resemble a proper barbecue sauce. Despite my efforts to resolve the issue respectfully, I was denied a refund.
the behavior I experienced was highly unprofessional. There was dismissiveness, a lack of accountability, and conduct that included inappropriate laughter. At one point, the chef raised his voice, focusing on irrelevant details such as added pineapple, rather than addressing the primary issue—the absence of barbecue sauce.
It was also very clear that the manager lacked professional management skills. Her demeanor and responses reflected a lack of proper training in customer service and conflict resolution. She made it visibly apparent that she is dissatisfied in her role and appeared disengaged, as though she was simply present to collect a paycheck which pizza has bbq sauce on it and which ridicule pizza was I accused of being called a liar. Karen needs to find a job she’s good at and clearly this isn’t for her.

Neighborhood bar with great service, familiarity faces and consistent food. I love the romano bread puffs, antipasto salad and custom slices of pizza! Great wine list and beers on tap! Wine Wednesday is so fun. Give it a try! It will become where everyone knows your name!

The service was awesome! But the food. Meh....nothing to write home about. But lots of cool beers. Will definitely be back for some drinks and awesome service. But skip the food.
