Ok I'm impressed with this breakfast diner. The food is good and the friendly prompt service is fabulous . Eggs are done very well. Soft scrambled eggs are actually not overcooked. The sausages and bacon are great tasting and not oily. Loved their pancakes which are fluffy and yummy. I could eat a whole stack of them without trouble. Good diner coffee ☕. The portions are huge and the early morning special is worth it. You don't leave hungry. 😋

This place has been on my list for a long time with one of my good friends going frequently. He swears by the stacked 'Jim's Best Western' sandwich as an ode to the former owner and location on Queen Street East. What does a sandwich with over 50 years of history taste like? Absolutely perfect. Now go and get it and thank us later... 😍
Tucked away at Victoria Park and St. Clair in East York, Gingerman Restaurant has been serving delicious all day breakfast for over 50 years. Big portions, great people, good service and a local favorite. Give them a try today! 💚

Went there for Saturday lunch. Place was quite busy but got a table straight away. Had chicken souvlaki dinner (chicken skewers, rice, potato, garlic bread, side salad for $25).which was good, especially the yogurt sauce. Also had smoked salmon egg benedict which was good, English muffin was a bit hard. Staff was nice. So overall pretty pleased. $48 before tip for 2 mains, so not cheap but qty is there.

Stopped in for a cheeseburger and coffee. Old school perked coffee was good . Hamburger was definitely a meal on its own . Well seasoned and tasty and filling .

From the moment we got to the diner, we knew it would be good. I got the Mediterranean omelette with home fries 10/10, we split a milkshake 9/10 and had a classic simple coffee. We waited 9 minutes from ordering our food to be served.

Group of 8 of us went in to have breakfast. I had the 3eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. The food came out quick, piping hot, and the home fries were delicious.
The Service was great, friendly and memorable.

A Cozy Find: Gingerman’s Breakfast Spot - A few friends and I were on the hunt for a close breakfast place with convenient parking (free parking lot!) and we stumbled upon Gingerman’s. What a lovely surprise! It’s a simple, cozy diner with a homely vibe—not overly fancy, but just what you want for a relaxed breakfast experience. The service was good, and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes. My omelette was seriously the biggest I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t get enough of the potatoes—such a refreshing change from the usual overly fried options. The menu offered a great variety, ensuring everyone in our group found something they loved. All in all, we couldn’t find anything negative to say—definitely a place we’ll return to. In fact, one of my friends is already planning a visit with her husband to savor more of their delicious eggs Benedict!

This landmark in East York can continue to boast welcoming hospitality and outstanding food in huge portions thanks to the big hearts and culinary sllkills of the new owners. We enjoyed a sumptuous Italian style dinner of chicken parmesan, pasta, salad, bread, and dessert served steaming hot and in record time! The sauce, or 'sugo', was perfectly prepared and really stole the show. The chicken was tender and the flavourful breading added a great hint of herbs to every bite. I cannot wait for the chance to visit for breakfast!

Horrible food… nasty new owners. Everything was burnt and the owner of the establishment was cursing at all the customers. They fired all the staff and now they can’t butter toast.do not support this place anymore.

Absolutely wonderful. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is very good and our 4 breakfasts came to the table hot. Great coffee.
I called ahead as I’m in a wheelchair for a few months. They made room for us and were very accommodating. Charlie the new owner opened the doors for us. We felt like family.

One of the things I do enjoy about the house we bought fifteen years ago is its location. Literally at the end of the block is a small plaza with just bout everything one needs, literally a minute’s walk away. There’s a variety store, laundry, drycleaners, pharmacy and an East York Institution, the Gingerman Restaurant.
We’ve been eating on a regular basis since the day we moved in, well the morning after anyway. There is nothing fancy or special about the place and therein lies it’s charm. It’s what it says it is a family run old fashioned greasy spoon restaurant. Those sadly are becoming few and far between in Toronto these days.
Since we’ve been her ownership has changed a couple of time, but the food, and more important the service haven’t changed. One of the reasons for the later is the long serving and loyal staff that have been here since before we first walked in. This is the kind of place where the waitress pauses before handing you a menu and asks instead if you want the “usual.”
Regular customers, who are remembered by name and have been a fixture here as long as the staff are one of the reasons for the success and longevity of this place. Mind some of those regulars have been coming here as long as we have and longer. The food of course is the second reason.
There is a full lunch and dinner menu available with the usual items. steaks, liver, spaghetti, chicken and seafood, there’s even a children’s menu. Being this is the east end of Toronto there is also a good selection of Greek dishes. Personally, I recommend the hamburgers, almost too big to eat, but I always manage.
The main item though and the reason the place is almost always packed in the mornings and especially so on weekends is the breakfast menu. There is a variety of omelets and breakfast sandwiches as well as such staples as pancakes and waffles. The main item on the menu and probably the most ordered is the all day breakfast of eggs, anyway you want, toast, home fries and bacon or sausage. Portions of this like everything else on the menu are generous to say the least. All of this can be washed down with a bottomless cup of freshly brewed coffee.
Now that we’ve retired, visits to The Gingerman are not restricted to the busy weekends and I can enjoy the place anytime I want
