At just two years old, he underwent open-heart surgery to repair a hole in his heart after developing heart failure. After a successful recovery, he went on to thrive athletically, competing as a Division I NCAA Track & Field athlete in both indoor and outdoor events. He specialized in the 400-meter, 800-meter, and 4x400-meter relay, experiences that deepened his appreciation for cardiovascular health, perseverance, and the remarkable resilience of the human body. Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience as a former heart patient, Dr. Stanger brings empathy, optimism, and a patient-centered approach to every encounter. He is dedicated to helping patients understand their conditions, navigate complex decisions, and develop treatment plans tailored to their health goals and lifestyles.
