So to recap:
I waited a full week for the Elidel to be filled, only to call the pharmacy and learn that a prior authorization should have been submitted with the prescription but wasn’t. Because of that, I had to call my insurance today and request the authorization myself.
All of this is happening while my hair is actively falling out, and the prescription I’m fighting for is meant to stop that. Instead of receiving the treatment I urgently need, I’ve been bounced between the doctor’s office, the pharmacy, and insurance. I was clear about what I needed, yet the prior authorization was submitted for the wrong medication.
I understand mistakes happen, but when it comes to patient care, accuracy matters. Whoever provided or relayed the wrong information needs to be addressed, because these errors create unnecessary stress and delay treatment. I am asking that everyone involved be held accountable so this doesn’t happen again.
While the pharmacy could have reached out, it would also help if prescriptions were checked for required authorizations before being sent. This is not criticism — it’s the patient experience.
Today has taken up my entire day. It’s now 5:45 p.m., and I’m still trying to correct something that went wrong last week. The Elidel was prescribed as “dispense as written,” which prevented the pharmacy from substituting the generic. Then the prior authorization was submitted for the generic instead of the Elidel, which is why the pharmacy kept saying they didn’t have it.
To fix this, I called your office five times, my insurance four times, and the pharmacy six times. I’ve spent hours on the phone while my condition gets worse.

I have been a patient of TFP for over 30 years now. My past two visit have not been what I am used to receiving there. I have been to the ER and Urgent Care for my concern and was always directed to follow up with my PCP. My PCP Dr. K has left the practice and since his departure, I have not had any one to really see there that understands me as an EST Patient, but Dr. M. He has been out or not with an appointment available, therefore, I have seen two others that I never seen before one a NP and one a MD. NP, think she knows what caused my issue and gave me appointment to return in three days to see a MD after she adjusted my meds. I followed up per her instructions, and it was the worst visit I ever had with a MD at TFP. She entered the room with her voice very loud it hurt my ears, and I am sure others could hear her conversation with me. Which was a violation of my privacy. I had to ask her to please lower her tone it was hurting my ears and giving me a slight headache. I was already not feeling well due to dizziness and what is going on with my health. She responded by saying she is a "NEW YORKER", which I don't know what that had to do with her yelling as if I could not hear her. She did lower her voice but did it in a whisper and made it very hard for me to hear her, which was very unprofessional to me and seen catty. What is sad, about this is that when I was given the appointment with her, I was excited to see her after I looked her up on the website. Meeting her in person she made me feel unimportant. When the CNA took my BP, it was high and I know from past experience after coming in the reading may be high. Also, I have been having a drop in my BP too that has been causing me dizziness that started after a medication change. I asked her after she was done listening to my heart, lungs and I have sat for a little while if she could check my BP again? She said NO! I have never had a Dr or nurse to refuse to recheck my BP while I am in the office. She then exited the room not making sure I was ok standing again. Upon leaving I felt very dizzy. I just stood up against the wall until it passed and walked out feeling so dismissed as an EST patient of Triangle Family Practic for over 30 years. I truly miss my old TFP providers so much those that really always had excellent bedside manners. I noticed reading reviews this same Provider gave another patient the cold treatment. As a new provider at TFP she truly needs to work on not making the patient feel worse than they did when they came in. And to listen to the patient concerns and needs. And when a patient tells her she does not have to yell or speak loud to them they can hear not tell them she is a "NEW YORKER". I know a lot of New Yorkers who does not talk loudly. And if a Patient ask for another BP check before leaving to not refuse them, because when I stood up, I was extremely dizzy. Which told me my BP had dropped again due to the meds. If the practice wants to know what this Dr's name, they can contact me and I will tell them. Not that it will make a difference in the way she is treating their patients there. I noticed a health care provider call her out too. And everything she said I felt it too. Dismissed by her. She want have to ever worry about me being on her schedule ever again.
I truly miss the Old TFP so much. Seeing a 2 rating is disheartening too.
Hopefully DUKE steps in and see a way to bring that rating back up where it uses to be and take their patients concerns seriously. That is not the TFP I am use to visiting. It's seems poorly ran now.

Do NOT go to Dr. Shillingsford. Worst bedside manner (and this is coming from a health care provider) who was judgmental and dismissive from the moment she entered the exam room and could not even complete a simple request of sending medication to the correct pharmacy. After waiting for over an hour to get my prescription for antibiotics, it turns out she sent it to the wrong pharmacy after not sending prescription at all until I called the engagement center twice to check in on the status, after the local pharmacy near the clinic said they had not received a prescription. I will never come back to this practice again. The Front Desk lady was awesome and was very helpful though.

I’ve been coming here since July 2025, it’s now January 2026 and I’ve had enough. After being a patient at DPC South Durham for many years, I was truly unhappy with the level of care I was getting year after year from my provider there. I was in search of a black female provider and found one here at TFP, by human error and mishap I was able to become a patient of hers. Now, I feel like this has been a mistake. Anytime I send a mychart message about something, I get a message back from the doctors nurse to schedule an appointment. Even for filling out FMLA paperwork, extensions, and the return to work. In my opinion, that is about money. I checked my insurance explanation of benefits summary and one telehealth visit is $300. I scheduled an appt Dec.16th in person to discuss the FMLA extension only to be told to go through another provider for approval because she didn’t think my condition would be approved for an extension and I was due to return to work Jan.6th and I was having surgery Jan.5th. Then I sent a mychart message for her to fill out the return to work and I was told to schedule another appt!!!!!! I had literally just had one! I asked for muscle relaxers for neck and shoulder tension, I was told to schedule an appt to discuss. I had already had an expired prescription from my previous provider so it wasn’t something I had never had. When I see this provider, I feel as if I’m sitting in an interrogation room and I’m the culprit. The interaction feels dismissive and cold with her. This is not a good fit for me and there are no other providers accepting new patients here. I am stuck until I can find somewhere else to go. But I do not want to schedule another visit with this particular provider. I am so unhappy here and hate that I even came here.

I've been a patient at this location for over 10 years. I love my doctor. He is always kind and honest. The few times I've had to use other doctors. They have been wonderful as well. There's an on-site lab so there's no need to go anywhere else for blood work. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a doctor to try this location. What's up?
