That… About Alexis Green From an early age, Alexis Green, AGACNPBC, was drawn to science and medicine. Her interest deepened in high school when a close family member was hospitalized, giving her firsthand exposure to the impact compassionate, skilled care can have during difficult moments. That experience helped shape her decision to pursue a career in health care. Alexis earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. She later completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a specialization as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her clinical training included experience in cardiac critical care, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, outpatient cardiology, cardiac catheterization, structural heart procedures, and gastrointestinal care. As an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, Alexis cares for critically ill and injured patients, often during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Alexis approaches care with a strong focus on compassion, teamwork, and patient-centered decision-making. “I always think of the patient first,” she says. “We are often meeting people on their worst days, and it’s important to treat them with respect, empathy, and honesty.” She believes in lifelong learning and continuous improvement to provide the best possible care. In her own words… Who is or was the most influential person or role model in your life? My mom. She raised me on her own while earning a master’s degree in social work, and she showed me the value of perseverance and compassion. What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I was a cashier at a small burger restaurant. I remember the friendships I made and how much teamwork mattered. What were your best and worst subjects in school? My best subjects were anything science based. My worst subject was math. What are your hobbies and interests? I enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, and visiting national parks. I also love exploring different cultures and spending time outdoors. Read more
