I normally do not make posts like this, but the customer service I witnessed and personally experienced at ALDI today was extremely disappointing.

Before I reached the register, another gentleman attempted to purchase a squash that he had picked up directly from the shelf. A kind older gentleman was ringing him up and genuinely trying to help him purchase it. However, the employee who later became my cashier told the other cashier that the squash could not be sold because it was not ringing up correctly.

What bothered me was that my cashier openly stated that he had noticed the problem with the squash last night. He said he returned this morning, saw that it was still on the shelf, and chose not to remove it or have the issue corrected because another coworker was late.

This occurred around noon. ALDI opens at 9:00 a.m., meaning the store had already been open for approximately three hours. If an employee knew about the problem the night before and saw the item still displayed that morning, it should have been removed from the shelf or brought to a manager’s attention instead of allowing another customer to attempt to purchase it and then be told he could not.

Shortly afterward, I entered this employee’s checkout line while pushing my daughter’s stroller and holding her in one arm. I placed my open ALDI bag inside the cart directly in front of him and politely asked whether he would place my sandwich items into the bag as he scanned them. His response was, “That’s not my job. I don’t bag groceries. You can do that over in the bagging area.”

I understand that ALDI’s normal process is for customers to bag their own groceries, and I was completely capable of doing so. My concern was not the policy. It was his tone, attitude, and complete lack of courtesy. A respectful response such as, “I’m sorry, but we are unable to bag groceries at the register,” would have been perfectly understandable.

As the owner of a reputable franchise myself, I understand that employees sometimes have difficult days. However, customers should still be addressed respectfully, and known problems affecting merchandise should not simply be ignored. Between the way he handled the squash situation and the way he responded to my simple request, his behavior was unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional.

I hope management addresses this gentlemen behind my shoulder through proper coaching and training. Customers should not be made to feel like an inconvenience for trying to purchase merchandise from the shelf or for politely asking a question, especially when they are simply trying to grab a few groceries while caring for a small child.

I can’t believe they closed such an awesome Winn Dixie just to replace it with this CRAP Aldi. It’s worse than a convenience store. Hell I rather shop at the DG than Aldi, they have more of a selection and about the same fresh produce and their prices are better too. Hopefully a REAL grocery store will open soon and Aldis will close.

If I could leave negative stars I would. This place is AWFUL. I’d heard that Aldi often has highly processed items but never in my wildest dreams did I think something like ORGANIC milk would have more than 3 ingredients but theirs certainly did, including agave inulin and some additive oil. As if that wasn’t bad enough it’s also tiny and has almost nothing. The Winn Dixie the company closed was one of the BEST I’ve ever been to. I LOVED it and so did most of the community. They had great deals, friendly staff, and enough food to actually supply the county. They closed it Sept of 2025 and stranded a rural, low income, hugely elderly population with NO GROCERY STORE for over 6 months during the holiday season. This left people with very few options for fresh food but also vital necessities like baby food, diapers, pet food, etc. the Aldi is garbage and I will NEVER even attempt to shop there (or any other of their locations) again. I HATE ALDI now. Morally bankrupt company that doesn’t care at all about its customers. We NEEDED our Winn Dixie but they chose to close it and create a food desert in the entire county. I’ve heard similar stories from other people living in small rural towns who used to depend on their Winn Dixie. I hope Aldi goes out of business and a REAL grocery store opens up here instead.

I love them. They have good prices and quality products. 💯👍 I look forward to trying more of their options, especially as I need more meat. It's nice to not have to drive to Tallahassee or Thomasville on the weekends. 🚗 The store is clean, and the people are nice. 😊 This is great for Jefferson County. 👏

Beautiful store! Definitely worth the wait in my opinion. Clean, large selection of different items, and fast check out line! Love the bread selections! 💙
