The path to tandoor ovens began with a single conversation — a restaurant owner asked if he could source one. He had never dealt in tandoors before, but he recognized what that request represented: an unmet need in a growing market. That one oven led to many. As orders grew, Mr. Bitu saw that the North American commercial kitchen demanded more than the traditional charcoal-fired clay pot. Restaurants needed gas-compatible models that could be plumbed into an existing kitchen gas line. Health departments required food-safety certification — a field where no tandoor supplier had done the work. Kitchens demanded durability, consistent heat, and after-sales support that simply did not exist in the market at the time. Every competitor was importing and reselling. No dedicated tandoor oven manufacturer USA-wide was doing the certifications, the clay sourcing, and the after-sales support under one roof. Nobody was manufacturing, certifying, and supporting. Tandoor Morni was built to solve exactly that — to become the clay tandoor manufacturer North America was missing. The company invested in its own Delhi factory — a decision that defines Tandoor Morni as a clay tandoor manufacturer rather than an importer. A clay tandoor manufacturer controls the clay selection, the potter training, and the kiln-firing quality — recruited artisan potters trained specifically for tandoor construction, and spent a decade working toward the certifications that matter most to professional kitchens. In 2002, Tandoor Morni earned NSF/ANSI 4 and CSA Z83.11 certification — becoming among the first NSF certified tandoor manufacturers in North America to hold both, establishing Tandoor Morni as the NSF certified tandoor manufacturer the industry still recognizes today. Today, Tandoor Morni operates nine showrooms across the USA and Canada — the only certified tandoor oven manufacturer with a physical presence you can walk into before you buy, and the only one with factory-direct pricing, a full accessories kit included with every oven, and a certified gas technician network for installations.
