Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Alvarez brings a global perspective to her practice and remains actively involved in the ophthalmology community through memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Women in Ophthalmology (WIO), Women in Eyecare (WIE), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), and the Venezuelan Society of Ophthalmology.
