Since Steve Fleckier retired, the quality has dropped drastically and my bill has doubled every year. No notice, just a bill. There doesn’t seem to be any effort on reducing my tax bill, just doubling of my bill to CLA

We used to use CLA for our small business tax prep for years. They had an office locally and then the local office closed and things got impersonal and expensive. The local personal touch was lost and got clinical. I felt we were no longer important to them as a client. I hope your experience is better than ours.

My wife and I had been using this firm for our annual personal tax returns back when they were still a local business, prior to their acquisition by CLA. Since CLA took over, prices have increased dramatically—without any advance notice or clear explanation. This year, we decided to switch to a different firm and ended up paying only a third of what CLA charged us the previous year. The new firm also met with us in person and provided helpful strategies for better managing our taxes.

When we questioned CLA about their steep fees or asked for an adjustment, we were simply told their rates range from $300 to $400 per hour. For standard household tax preparation, the amount we were charged was excessive. We will not be returning to CLA, and we caution others seeking personal tax services to be aware of the very high pricing.
