I’ve known coach/master Jaysen since we were kids, and I can genuinely say that you won’t find many people more deserving of success. Throughout his entire life, he has been one of the most humble, friendly, hardworking, and dedicated people I’ve known.

His accomplishments in Taekwondo speak for themselves. He has competed and succeeded at the international level and has spent years mastering his craft. Now, he has taken that experience and passion and become, in my opinion, one of the best Taekwondo coaches in the country.

What makes this gym special, though, is that it’s about much more than competition or learning martial arts. He has always been the type of person who treats people with respect, encourages those around him, and makes everyone feel welcome. I have no doubt that he brings those same qualities into his gym every single day.

Whether you’re looking for a place for your child to learn discipline and confidence, want to compete at a high level, or simply want to become part of a great community, I highly recommend this gym. New students aren’t just joining a Taekwondo school—they’re joining a family. You’ll be in great hands.

9th Island Taekwondo stands out as a one of the top-tier martial arts school in the valley. Master Jaysen Ishida is highly skilled , knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the development of each student. He's physical skills focus on building strong confidence, discipline, and strong student. The training is challenging but engaging, keeping students motivated and excited to learn.

The Dojang is welcoming, supportive, and family-oriented. Clearly that this school prioritizes both excellence and character development. If you're looking for a top high level Taekwondo school I highly recommend Master Jaysen Ishida of 9th Island Taekwondo.

Just went to 9th Island Taekowndo for the very first time today. It is located across the DMV on Stephanie and tucked in the corner of the plaza. The inside is much larger than it appears from the outside. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean the gym was. The rubber flooring is perfect for Taekwondo as it puts less stress on your knees and joints. Old guys like me need as much support and cushion on my knees and joints as possible!! Master Jaysen Ishida is world-class. He is an enoucraging instructor, yet firm and instills discipline.

My son has been in taekwondo since he was 4yrs old, at almost 8 yrs old he is currently ranked #1 in the country for his division. After leaving two other “top” schools in Las Vegas, 9th Island is the absolute perfect fit for his skill level, but also for athletes to begin and grow to be the best with their incredible masters. This isn’t a massive school that upgrades belts every other month just to collect money from 200 kids at a time. This isn’t a school that runs like a daycare. This is a school meant to learn discipline, high level skill, power, precision in movements, and get their athletes competition ready but also focus so much on small corrections. The individual attention and encouragement is absolutely remarkable. These athletes/students are destined for greatness, and we are so proud to have him represent this school.
