Zoka is such a great coffee local coffee shop. Removing a star because they use Ai on their menu— please hire a real artist or just remove the pictures. I only support business that support humans. Otherwise the coffee and atmosphere was fantastic. The orders are only labeled by the name of the drink and causes significant confusion. A customer accidentally took our drink. This also seems difficult on the staff too as they had to constantly clarify the drinks to the customers.
I will return once the AI is gone (see photo, it is obvious AI).

Zoka in Tangletown is my go-to coffee place. I go there almost every day. I love the coffee but what keeps me coming back are the fantastic baristas. My experience there is always great. The only reason I gave 3/5 stars on the atmosphere instead of 5/5 is because the baristas recently started wearing all matching aprons and, personally, it ruins the vibe of Zoka for me in not an inconsequential way. Zoka Green Lake always feels warm and cozy, inviting in a “small town, local third space” kind of way but the new aprons remind me of Starbucks and other big corporate chains that don’t value individuality and the experience over their brand. It saddens me to see a place like Zoka trying to implement strategies that only serve to get rid of the uniqueness of their shop in favor of uniformity. Who wants that? Usually these things are only the beginning of a longer spiral into making a once hometown feeling brand into a soul-sucking corporate one. I really hope Zoka doesn’t become this way, and I think getting rid of the aprons would be a good first move.

great atmosphere, staff, coffee, but the matcha is unfortunately not at all good 😓 I understand as a business the desire to sell matcha since it’s popularity has grown in recent years and you can meet the wants of your customer base, but if you’re dedication to coffee isn’t matched in dedication to tea, or specifically matcha, then you’re better off not selling it at all.

when asked how many grams of matcha is used in a standard 12oz beverage, i was shown a small scoop, no larger than a teaspoon. despite seeing this, i decided to order a 12oz iced latte with twice the standard amount. sadly, the quality of their matcha isn’t great. it was lumpy, lacked any sort of depth in flavor, and was extremely dull.

again, this place is fantastic for coffee!!! but I wanted to point this out to anyone curious about their matcha.

Zoka Coffee in Green Lake is my default spot when I want to focus and get work done. It has a great Pacific Northwest wooden-style interior and a warm, productive atmosphere. It is usually full of people, but it does not feel too noisy or distracting. The coffee quality is great, and there is very good access to outlets, which makes it convenient for laptop work. Most people here seem to be working, and that helps create a focused environment.

The only downside is that the air inside can feel a bit stuffy. I would suggest improving the air circulation to bring more fresh air into the café.

Had high hopes since I do like there coffee roasts. Ordered there cappuccino and was disappointed. I could tell the espresso was good however it was made like a child put it together. If you go to a more detailed espresso cafe the espresso is infused more into the foam. I see other guests pictures on there posts and mine looked nothing like there's. Untrained barista? This was poorly put together. Food was mediocre and everything was very expensive. Nice ambiance however this is a place were no one leaves once they sit down. Waited for a seat to open up but eventually gave up.
