Well where do I start with this “family owned” business. I think my key points to any potential customers would be summarized as follows:

1) Do NOT be fooled into thinking because they have been around for 50+ years as a family run business, that this gives you ANY comfort. It does not, trust me. ZERO, none.

2) Their workmanship on absolutely the simplest of items was beyond sub-par, so if they cut corners on that aspect imagine the quality of their overall work on every job?

3) When needing their "5 year warranty" due to THEIR poor workmanship, it was nowhere to be found. They chose not to spend $200 fixing our $9,000 job. Yay!

We spent almost $9,000 with A Clark for siding, eaves and soffit install. Later on we realized they had not strapped/screwed in the downspouts on our home. When it was the lower ones that fell off, we fixed ourselves. When the higher ones popped off on our 2 storey home we contacted A Clark. That was the moment we realized picking them based on their reviews and family run, philanthropic messaging was a clear mistake.

We quickly learned that they wanted nothing to do with us since their local operation closed. They still operate as A Clark, a family business that has been going for over 50+ years, but they were quick to dismiss that fact. This is like your local Tim Horton’s closing, and then going to another city and having that Tim’s not take your gift card! Even though our $9k payment was processed by their Edmonton head office they kept on washing their hands of the situation. $200 to fix their shoddy work on a $9,000 job, but nope, keep washing those hands!

After ZERO communication last year, I started again this year. Every time I called the head office the receptionist played the game that GM Jay Dunlop was in a meeting. It was comical but entertaining. After further repeated emails to Jay, over the course of two months I finally decided for fun to file a BBB complaint. I knew full well that the BBB is only in existence to protect the businesses, not the customers, since the businesses are the ones keeping the BBB in operation. But at this point I thought why not, it might at least be further fun. I guess that was enough for Jay to finally decide after 14 months to reply to me, of course only to remind me that my local A Clark Roofing office was closed, and they would not be able to assist further. Such a warm fuzzy family run shop!

To be honest I was actually shocked he finally replied. I reminded him that we spent almost $9,000, and that they could have reimbursed us, or easily found an existing contractor like I did in the end, to fix our issue for $200. Again, due to A CLARK workers cutting corners and not properly strapping the downspouts, A Clark...the “family run” business, would not spend $200 to end up with a satisfied customer.

Soak that in and realize that is ALL you need to know about A Clark Roofing. There are a myriad of choices in this industry, so make sure you realize the comfort of this family run business is worthless at the end of the day…and that they likely will cut corners on your job as well.

P.S. I know Jay will reply at some point to my ramble, but do know nothing above is anything other than the truth. A Clark Roofing is a HORRIBLE company that does NOT take care of their customers. They are only about the almighty dollar and have proven that clearly with us.

We hired A Clark Roofing & Siding Ltd to replace the fascia & eaves troughs on our house in the spring approximately 1 ½ years ago. After the work was complete we soon noticed water leaking from between the house & eaves trough. We contacted the contractor regarding the issue & were told over the phone that the leaks were a result of ice damning on our roof. He would not come to the house to look at the problem as he said it had nothing to do with the eaves. However, come summer & fall when it rains the water pours through the VISIBLE gap between the fascia & eaves. We have recently had a reputable contractor visit who was able to identify the issue immediately. A Clark Roofers did not complete the installation properly. We now have to pay to have the whole job redone.
