Born and raised in Quincy, Illinois, she attended St. Peter School, Quincy Notre Dame High School, and later the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before earning her medical degree and completing her Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Mayfield then completed a fellowship through the University of Chicago and NorthShore University, training under team physicians for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Sky, and the Chinese Olympic Volleyball team. Prior to moving to Quincy, she has provided team physician coverage for athletes ranging from high school to collegiate and junior hockey athletes. Dr. Mayfield was drawn to orthopaedic surgery because it combines problem-solving, hands-on procedures, and meaningful patient relationships across all age groups.
