Brian was our tech at my dad's place. He did an HVAC checkup. My 99 yr old dad wanted to go to the basement with Brian so she could see what Brian recommended. He took the time to explain everything to dad, which I thought was so nice, given the fact it took dad awhile to get down the stairs! Great service.

We had an exceptional experience with Althoff in quoting and then installing a new AC last month. Really felt like they listened to our needs and worked through all the options to find the right fit for our family. We got a handful of estimates from various companies and they made sure they stayed very competitive. We signed up for their member program because we were so happy.

So why not a 5* review?

We were so happy that we didn't hesitate to contact them for an electrical project. Upon schedule we were quoted their charge *for the work* at $90/first hour and $200/hr thereafter. We got a free quote for the AC so expected the quote itself to be free and the work to be charged at the rate we were told. Electrician comes and inspects what we need done. He was knowledgeable and communicative. He says it's the kind of job that will require a second set of hands because he needs to run wire. We told the scheduler it would require running wire to create a new outlet, so this wasn't entirely a surprise but we had thought the work would be done that day. The electrician says he'll write up a quote for the job and we can call the office to schedule. I asked how long the job would take and he said 1/2 to 3/4 of a day - so I expected to get a quote for around 6-8 hours (x $200). Despite absolutely no work being done we were charged $200 for him being at our house for an hour for the quote itself! Not the $90/first hour rate, but the actual work rate at $200/hr. With not a single bit of work done. But even worse is the job quote we received. It was for over $4,000!!!! I called asking why we were told the rate was $90/ first hour and $200/hr thereafter but received a flat rate quote and I was told that some electrical jobs are quoted out that way. We would have NEVER scheduled had we known we were paying to get the quote itself (our regular electrician and every one I've had recommended gives free quotes!), and we doubly would not have had them come out if we knew it would be anything other than an hourly charge.

Bottom line: Three weeks ago we would have highly recommended Althoff for AC work. We absolutely would never recommend them for electrical. And now the electrical experience makes us question recommending them for anything. Use caution!

Our 40-year boiler finally quit...a few days before a severe cold front. It happened in the night and we were able to schedule an appointment first thing the next morning. We were texted in the morning to let us know that Jim was on his way, as well as to provide a photo and background. He was super friendly, helpful and took his time to show and explain everything to us.

We were presented with a few options of what we could do (no pressure!), and decided that given the age of the boiler, we would do a full replacement. Within a short while, Jeff had arrived to go over all option again and discuss payment. He was kind, patient and again, there was no pressure to choose on over the other. After again determining a full replacement was he way to go, he set everything and we had the appointment scheduled for first thing the next morning - right in time to beat the storm!

The next morning, we again received a text letting us know that Shawn was on his way; again we received a picture and bio. Shawn and Braydon arrived promptly at 8, ready to go. They spent the whole day taking apart the old boiler, installing the new one, making sure it was running perfectly and ensuring that everything was cleaned up spotlessly. They also took time throughout the day to shoe and explain to us what they were doing, what we could expect and answer any and all questions we had.

It was a big job, as all the pipes had to be cut, replaced, new seals, new valves, etc. They did an excellent job!!

From the first interaction to the last goodbye, everyone was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and patient. 10 out of 10, I recommend!!!

Our AC stopped working and we called to get a quote from Althoff because we didn't like the quote from our current service provider. Our system was aging and we knew it was time to replace it. We called Althoff for a quote on a new furnace/AC combo. The comfort specialist came out the next day(on a Friday) and gave us options that were reasonable, and we got a new customer discount which was nice. Jeff was very friendly and went through all our options carefully. Once we chose our options, we were all set up for an install on a Monday. They even sent a tech out on Friday to put more refrigerant into our current unit to get us through the weekend AT NO CHARGE to us!

The install day went smoothly, despite them having to rip out and replace a lot of old stuff to install the new system. Techs Braden & Shawn were wonderful people. They put down drop cloths around my home to protect the floors. The work was done with the utmost respect for our home and property, and they left everything cleaner than it was when they got here. The techs were very friendly, yet professional took their time to explain everything to us once everything was installed, and answered all of our questions. Every time I checked in with them when they were working they always answered every question I had. I am very pleased with their service and will call on this company for regular maintenance for our system.
