As a parent and as an adult who has faced bullying during her educational years and now have a child of my own who is facing bullying, I am appalled at this schools lack of how they handle bullying.
Number one there is no communication between the teachers and the principle what so ever, rather, the teachers take it upon themselves to dole out the "proper" punishment.
Number two, when approaching the principle about it....yet AGAIN....she was well aware of previous issues at the beginning of the year....her response was "she was not sure when she would get around to it because it's graduation day and she has a lot on her plate."
I'm so glad that compromising a child's safety isn't as important to her as graduation day!
I realize he's one child, but I speak for all children who have been bullied in the past and who continue to get bullied, they do not ask to be bullied and we need to start taking it more seriously! Words hurt! Threats hurt! Physical violence hurts!
This school and all schools need to stop asking victims of bullying to "try to determine why you're being bullied" and nip it in the bud right from the start!
It's shocking that this what my taxes pay for. And then they strike and ask for more to do less.
Set an example! Be the example!
