I had 2 pairs of shoes that needed custom fitting. I also bought a pair of boots from his store, but did not realize until I got home how ancient the material was inside full of stains that bled into my stockings. I brought this to his attention when I came to pick up my shoes. He was very unhelpful, there went 50 bucks. When he showed me the work done on my 2 pairs of shoes, I almost cried. They were perfectly new, hardly worn, and now they looked like an amateur had a go at taking it apart, cutting out pieces and sewing it unevenly while the heals of one pair looked barely in placed. The shoes fit, but they look thrashed. I pointed the scratches on the leather, he said no problem, as he polished over the rough surface. Another 80 bucks down the drain.

I would NOT recommend if you care about your shoes.

Apart from the very high quality of the leather, which I like, the fit of my boot just isn't that great.
Most disappointing: the leather at the bottom of one boot where it meets the heel has a thin line of exposed rough edge, about 2 inches. I didn't see it when I picked it up, tried to cover it with dark brown polish - didn't work. Finally used a dark brown FELT PEN! I paid 800 for these boots. I cannot recommend him for custom stuff.

I tried this place once and only once. I would not trust with my good shoes, bags or boots. Terrible.

Wonderful little shop that, yes, when it's open, is amazing. But as long as you call ahead beforehand for pick up/drop off, you won't be disappointed with the most outstanding quality of shoe/leather goods repair. Not only has he done quite a few of bag repairs for me, he's also reheeled & resoled a pair of very expensive boots I thought I'd have to give up on.

Although at first I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the shop, these auspicious impressions quickly gave way to frustration...the shop is never open!
I tried several times before successfully dropping my broken shoe off, and then was forced to try several times more to pick it up! After two weeks and $80, I finally had my shoe back. But it was well done!

So, if you are a patient thrifter, this shop may well be worth your "time" (pun intended). If not, I suggest another location!
