The bottom line is that she should be fired, as the person in charged of Nellie's day to day operations. Margarita Mendez, has endorsed the abused of women at Nellie's, by taking actions of reprisals against those women, who has complained about the treatment they've received, at Nellie's Shelter. With over 2 million dollars in public funding, that in fact goes towards the further abuse of those women, Mendez should not be allowed to continue in her present position. Some of the things that Mendez has allowed at Nellie's Shelter, is also shocking!. Margarita Mendez, has endangered the safety of the women, by allowing some residents to regularly violate, the Fire Code Regulations. Mendez has passed it on to the front line staff, not to give those residents any warnings, if they leave the fire doors opened all day and night. Prompting an investigation of Nellie's Hostel, currently, over those same fire code violations. As recently as last July,(2016), Nellie's Hostel, also had a recent fire, which has caused some damage to the internal structure of the building. That was just two months ago. Besides, Nellie's Hostel also houses children. One resident also overheard a staff telling another staff, that Nellie's security alarm was not working for days. Read more
