The Croatia trip (June 9-29) was poorly planned and executed … not professional at all!
It became obvious to all that dinners had not been pre booked.
The meals were 2 course, small shared mostly lettuce salads and always main platters with grilled vegetables and a different meat every night. We often left the table hungry. Shared platters of food is neither hygienic or fair since some people will eat more than others.
I find it hard to believe that all the hotels were 4* since some clients had to cope with Biting bugs, overflowing showers, inoperable air-conditioning, and serious portage problems in 2 cases.
Some of the walking tours were overlong (3-4 Hours) in the tremendous heat of the day +35 degrees. Some clients experienced heat stroke as a result. Public holidays during the tour closed down some sites we were supposed to see as well. We always seemed to be making up time so the tours appeared rushed with insufficient time for both eating lunch and sightseeing on our own. We were directed to MacDonalds for lunch once!
Some people, 85 years old amongst them, were housed in the bowels of the boat with a steep ladder to navigate while the tour operators, Norman and Julie Bruce, took the best cabin for themselves. It should have been the other way around. Those housed below deck should have received compensation for their accommodations.
The cost of the tour was expensive for the services we received. I have asked for $2500 in compensation.
If Royal Heights Tours expects to survive they will have to up their game big time.

Wasn't on this exact tour however we did travel with Royal Heights Tours on their previous Vietnam soiree. We both thoroughly enjoyed the journey. FEET UP is not their mantra for sure! One needs to be somewhat of an adventurer and a serious traveler in order to appreciate what goes into making this particular trip a learning experience. A line you probably heard on the journey "sleep when you get home" is certainly apropos. Working hard in life so you can appreciate the spoils later is the mantra that Royal Heights Tours lives by. The words 'you get what you pay for' is certainly exemplified when travelling with this tour company. We continue to highly recommend Royal Heights Tours! In fact, we recently traveled to India with them and 11 of the 24 people on the journey were people we recommended. Cheers!
