I have been attending BrainChild for 10 years now (since grade 1) and I am in grade 10 now. I have switched to my third BC centre (previous two closed). Brainchild teaches students at the enriched level and challenges them beyond the school board curriculum. I am in a grade 11 math class at school and have been getting an average of 85+ in my math class. Strongly suggest checking out Brainchild

I worked at a BrainChild Centre (not in Ontario) for two years, twice a week. They supposedly offer both enrichment and remedial work.

They assign children work booklets to work on semi-independently. A workbook can have as many as 20 or more pages, even at the kindergarten level. The test consists of about 2 pages. If used flexibly, this system may work somewhat for older children (middle school and up), who are able to focus more.

If you are looking at subject mastery, you would probably want to use a regular school textbook and a private tutor. Mastery is something that BrainChild still has to grasp.

I am believer that children are kinetic learners (interactive learners). BrainChild doesn't seem to support this theory. My attempt to use more effective learning methods to teach the children in my classes gained opposition from the BrainChild management. Teaching with games and hands-on activities has been a more effective way of reaching these young ones.

In terms of employment, the employees there tend to be people who like children, so they are often very friendly. You would want to look at management, and understand how they view education (ie. their educational principles). Remember that this is a small business franchise, so be careful how they pay you.
