I became a member at the club located at Victoria Park and Ellesmere. Within three days (within the 10-day cancellation money back guarantee period),due to completely unsatisfactory service from their "fitness instructors", who were not even certified fitness instructors, I decided to cancel my membership.

At my registration, I was promised a thorough consultation, a program design to fit my needs, and since i was a first-time gym member when inquired about proper usage of machines and exercise techniques, I was told that the instructors would be there to help me out. However, upon entering the club for my first workout, I was greeted wit a messy and unclean changing room and washrooms. When I reported to the "instructors" that I was due for the initial consultation, I was told to come back later as they are busy with new customer registrations and handling reception. So I was told to use the treadmill in the meanwhile. When I asked for my initial consultation the second time, I was told to sit and wait for over half an hour until the "instructors" finish up their work. However, to my surprise, the initial consultation only consisted of weight and height measurement which was entered into a simple body fat calculation device along with the age, which ended up taking less than 5 minutes of time.

For such an "initial consultation" i was kept waiting for over half an hour and my needs were not evaluated and a program was not designed and when asked to show proper exercise techniques or proper usage of machines, I was told to book an appointment with another instructor to a later day.


After canceling my membership on that same day, I was told to call back within a month to pick up my refund. However, it has been over 8 months and every time I contact the club, I am told to wait or call the head office. I have contacted the head office several times a day and leave messages on daily basis to receive my refund of initial registration fee and the monthly fee of two months (which they charged after my cancellation), and it is still in vain.

So, unless you enjoy losing your money, a poor service, neglect by the staff, I strongly advise you to think several times, if need be, before joining FITNESS ONE clubs.
