We have been in our home for 30+ years and never needed a plumber because my husband did all our repairs; but when we needed a basement shower replaced, we called John the Plumber! We are so thankful we did. Garrett came on time, was professional and very friendly; simply a delight to deal with! He explained what needed to be done and got to work. He showed us why and what he was doing as he went along. The were no surprises when we got the bill, it was just as Garrett had quoted. Thank you for your expert service!

We were charged $250+TAX for a 20 minute visit? WHAT IS THIS? I want to be reimbursed. It was not an emergency response, so this is not reasonable. THIEVES!

If there was an option of no stars I would of put that. We hired John the Plumber for an estimate for small job and question about a toilet. After waiting all day and being over an hour and half late someone finally showed. The estimate for the small project was more than double than other plumbers and we charged $40.00 fro an estimate. The toilet we were told needed to replace the wax ring underneath. If that didn't work than to replace the toilet. Which is really funny because it is a top of the line toilet and is new. We were told to replace it with something from Home. The toilet is $400. We were over charged and given wrong advice. I tried calling the owner for 2 weeks which the receptionist kept giving excises and was rude. After 2 weeks that he didn't respond to our repeated phone calls I called the Better Business Bureau. They are not credited with BBB but the ratings he has posted seemed to be great. Buyer Beware. The receptionist called and started yelling that I had lied to BBB etc. I told her I would only speak to the owner. Dealing with her was not easy for the 2 week phone call chasing. John finally called and he was unprofessional and abusive and intimidating on the phone. He started screaming that I had lied and I need to disappear and that he will be contacting his lawyer and suing me. ( for what? contacting the BBB?) His motive was very clear to harass and threaten me. I told him he needs to calm down and stop threatening me other wise I was going to call the police for his threats. He wouldn't calm down and my kids could hear him screaming across the room on the phone.
No one should ever tolerate such abusive and harassment from anyone. He must have anger issues since he went from 0 to 60 in few seconds.
Also, like someone said he changes names and could be inflating his own ratings. Please be beware. I can't imagine if we had warranty issues or actually hired them to do the small project. In the end we did get the job from a plumber a neighbour hired. He was an actual plumber with customer service and very pleasant to work with. He was HALF the COST of John the Plumber. John the Plumber has been the worst company to deal with and was only for an estimate and toilet issue.

For first appt they were a noshow and office called a few hours later to say they had an emergency. Rebooked for the 8 AM the next day. Here it is 10:30 with no plumber, no call. Goodbye John. There are plenty of more responsible plumbers around. The high ratings on the other sites must be another john!

We had same issue. Somone supposed to come in a. 5 hour window. No show so I call the office and am told someone is on their way. so another half hour and still no show I call the office again and goes to voice mail. I couldn't leave a message because mail box was full. Call 20 minutes later am am told will be here in 10 minutes.I said fine as long in 10 minutes. Nope 25 minutes later. Wasted whole day waiting for an estimate. Your lucky they didn't show because John the plumber is a nightmare. I always check the BBB rating of any company I deal with. This is not BBB approved for good reason.

The only reason I even give this company 1/2 star is because in the beginning, they came to our basement reno every day, on time. They required too much money up front however, and after having gotten most of their contract, they were impossible to reach.
The worst part though? The plumber we contacted to finish our job had to redo a large part of what they had already done as it was such shoddy work AND he said that we'd paid double what we should have for our project. For example, the water lines were impropertly installed, there was no venting, there was no check valve where it was required by code, he used wrong size pipes in one spot, in essense, he cut as many corners as he could to get in and get out and most importantly to him, to get his cash.
We really feel that John the Plumber (who is not the person who will do your work, by the way) is a crook. Beware of all these positive reviews, there's no way that they can be from legitimate customers.

I had a problem on a late Friday afternoon and called John The Plumber from Ottawa. John came over and fixed my small emergency. Nice guy, professional and eager to help. Nice qualities....I would call on them again.
