Our three dogs are so individual and have separate needs and finicky quirks. Rick and the staff took such good care of our boys. Our huge husky is so hard to wear out... And after spending the weekend there, he slept for 2 days :)
The communication level between staff members seemed poor for my dogs pill taking regime. But other than that.... 100% recommendation from me for small to large dogs!! Hopefully their stay #2 in a few weeks goes as well!

Rick and Chantelle are absolutely wonderful. I have not used the groomer here but have heard that she is great. I'm sure there are other employees that I've not dealt with that are great as well. To do this business well, you need to have a real respect for both the animals and their owners and I see that here at Riverside.
My two pomeranians are cared for in a gentle and loving manner and any concerns I have are quickly addressed. They are willing to give my little dogs the extra consideration that a small breed requires, like a quieter area of the facility.
Having owned many dogs over the years and having used several boarding facilities, both here and in the US, I would say that Riverside is, by far, the best facility I've used.
Keep up the good work

I used to be a big fan of Riverside - I would bring my dog there regularly for daycare. I've recently realized that the group exercise is NOT monitored the whole time.. which means multiple dogs from multiple households are in groups together and only monitored for a short period to "ensure there are no issues". The owner often lies and says that someone is always watching the dogs but I've spoken with a staff member who advised me of the truth. She said that yes they do bring the dogs out in groups that they believe will work, after a few minutes if everything is fine they go inside and then check on them throughout their play. So if theres a fight no one is there to see what happened or to break it up. I inquired about having my dog stay for the weekend and she advised me that while they advertise on their website that there is 24 hour supervision, there is not. The dogs staying overnight are alone from 6pm until 7:30 am with a quick pee break at bed time. The employee said that while they try and give the dogs as much attention as they can they likely don't get much one on one time.. except whatever the owner claims to give them at bed time. She said that while they would love to do those things it's not possible with the amount of work to be done daily. I personally do not agree with this - the owner needs to hire more staff to provide the service he claims he's providing or stop falsely advertising that he offers a service with 24 hour supervision and lots of one on one time.
also side note: He says he spends a lot of time with them so he can get to know the dogs individually...If he knows the dogs so well why does he always call my dog a boy? Her name is Bella.. Not whatever new name you call her every time I come into the facility

Hello and thank you for your feedback. I would love to speak to this review as I take all reviews, good and bad very personally. Firstly, it is unfortunate that an unhappy employee about to part ways with us would make such inaccurate comments in their last week. How they did their job and how they were expected to be doing their job clearly were on two different levels. So, this is our process for exercising dogs. Firstly, lets be clear, all dogs that will potentially be good exercise companions are tested together in a controlled environment to be sure that this is the case. And yes, that means dogs from different households. If a customer requests their pet(s) to be exercised alone...we follow those instructions. Once an exercise group is established, they are given an hour of exercise, weather permitting. Staff is to be out with the groups overseeing the exercise while also cleaning up the exercise area of poop so that the areas are kept clean. Staff may run in then back out to go to the bathroom, bring in dogs that are going home, or in the process of returning dogs that are done exercise to their own suites. There are always 2 or more employees (one inside/one outside) on staff while dogs are being exercised so if a staff member is sitting inside instead of out supervising, it is against the instructions they have been given. When this is identified, the offending staff member has been corrected and expected to follow the procedures given. Some employees caught offending multiple times are no longer with us but I do not have a high turnover of staff, as regular clients are aware. It is also a very, very rare occurrence that we have had any pet fights at our facility as any vet can attest. 24 hour supervision is provided by staff being present all business hours + 1/2 hour before and after that, making sure your pets have been fed by their owners personal instructions, fresh water in clean pails, suites cleaned, bedding washed if needed, dogs who can't operate the dogs doors are let in and out frequently, exercised, and any medications given. At the end of each workday when business hours are over, the guests are closed in for the evening from the outside runs. Our indoor suite sizes range from 5ft x 5ft to 10ft x 10ft so they are not cramped inside either. I (the owner) personally go out every night between 10pm and Midnight to break up their evening giving each guest an opportunity to go pee etc outside. Then they are brought in and I spend a little time with each guest making sure they have plenty of water for the night, give them treats if the owner provided, belly rubs, toy play, and love as this is my favorite part and motivation for this business. Unfortunately it is unreasonable and impractical to hire staff to watch the guests sleep. I do however have a good quality alarm system that when it goes off, immediately goes to my cell phone so that I can respond without hesitation...I live across the driveway. Nowhere on my website or ads do I claim 24 hour supervision but there is 24 hour monitoring and as much interaction as can be afforded while still keeping the prices reasonable for my customers. At my pet hotel, staff is present all day, and encouraged to spend time building a personal report with each guest. This is built by our on-going interaction with them every time we go into their suite to clean, feed, refresh and clean the water pails, give medications, let in and out, take for exercise, bring back from exercise, etc. Most of which is done multiple times throughout the day for each guest. While doing this we talk to them, pet them, play with them, and say their name as frequently as possible. These all go towards building report and having personal time with each guest. When customers pick up their pets we make a point of saying goodbye to each one so that the customer can see that their precious family member acknowledges us and is not afraid or threatened by our presence. And when they come again, are excited to be returning...including your dog! I do not retain one staff member per guest...but we do the best we can. I work primarily doing cleaning and maintenance duties in the kennel during the week, then I do my nightly visit with the overnight guests, and I work weekends as a Guest Service Attendant. We do not have daycare on weekends and if your dog is not there overnight, as yours clearly has not been, I would have had little interaction with them myself. The other staff would have had the bulk of the interaction so I apologize that if when I dropped in and you were picking Bella up I used the wrong gender when I came to say goodbye and share some love. If you worked here you would know that many people have their pets named NOT according to their gender. I know for those of you who took the time to read this that this seemed long winded but it was necessary to clarify as again, I don't like being called a liar, especially by someone who knows so little about me. To the writer of this pointed review, I invite you to come by and spend a full day with us, then come out with me in the evening to see first hand how we run things and why the dogs love us. The information you were provided obviously was tainted...if this in fact is from a customer and not a disgruntled employee posing as a customer. Sincerely, Rick Kimakowich Owner/Manager

Can't say enough thanks to Heidi and the rest of the riverside staff. My dog can be such a pain and she always handles him with expert knowledge and care. I've gotten so much help from food and supplement reccomrndations to training tips and tricks. Thank you!

Best place to leave our dogs! The girls are so friendly and always make me and my wife feel comfortable. It's so great to know that they are left with people who love dogs just as much as we do! Thank you for the piece of mind!

I've recently moved to Saskatoon and don't have many friends or family to help me with lily like I did when I was at home. I found riverside resort through a coworker and have never been disappointed. I've had her groomed there by Suzanne and she always comes out smelling fresh! I have even brought her in for daycare a few times because the staff are so kind and knowlegable and always make me feel at ease when leaving her behind. Staff member Heidi was a huge part of why I felt so comfortable.. Lily absolutely loves her! Thank you Riverside! We appreciate all you've done for us!

I have been taking our 2 dogs to RRPonVacay for the past 4 years. We had tried a few other kennels but were never impressed...& our dogs pulled on their leashes to leave the moment we got in the door. At Riverside, our dogs are excited to get in the door, with tails wagging!!
Immediately upon reception, it is friendly & extremely organized!! The kennel is very clean, which means so much to me. Just ask to see your dog's suite -- you'll know what I mean!
The dogs receive excellent care, exercise & grooming (if you choose)...& they get to play in the large field with other, suitable dogs!
Our dogs love Riverside Resort on Vacation & I leave them there with great peace of mind. I'm truly appreciative of Rick & his staff. I highly recommend RRPonVacay!!!!

My dog Diggs spent a week at Riverside Resort: Pets on Vacation in Saskatoon and had the time of his life! It is an excellent facility that is well organized and maintained. We went to Mexico with no worries at all about our dog. They even sent us a picture while we were away by email of him playing with the other dogs and having fun. There is a professional dog groomer on site as well. Diggs had such a good time and got so much exercise. We are planning on using them again in the future for sure!
