As a counsellor and psychotherapist in Victoria and Saanich BC, I believe that individuals are experts of their own experience and that I am an ally in supporting them to achieve health and wellness. In order to work holistically I consider the mind, body and spirit of clients. Unlike most counsellors I use a somatic approach. This approach invites a person to inquire into what is happening in the body and what sensations may be occurring during the session to given them greater understanding of the their process and support healing on a body level. At times I may incorporate movement and/or non-sexual touch with permission of the client. This touch can facilitate a deep level of healing. I encourage clients to decline at any point if this is not of interest. Throughout my life I have been passionate about holistic health and wellness. I started my career as a nurse and initially worked in labour, delivery and postpartum. Through this work, I have become familiar with the rhythm of labour, how to bathe and care for babies, and the challenges women and families face when pregnant and birthing. I then left the hospital to work with the Vancouver Island Women’s Clinic and the Island Sexual Health Society. In these settings I have expanded my appreciation for the impact sexual and reproductive health can have on a person’s life Read more
