The place was the right space for hosting a party with 40-50 people, lights were adjusted to our liking, instructions were very straight forward, there’s a small kitchen area that included two refrigerators, a microwave, and a sink, and the washroom was very clean and proper cleaning materials were provided as well! The host was very hospitable and was easy to reach and communicate with, me and my guests enjoyed our stay!

I hosted a bridal shower here and it was the perfect place for a smaller group.
They provided tables and chairs which made everything easier for myself and co-host, plus having the kitchenette worked perfect.
The only “cons” about this place is it is a bit hard to find, and it doesn’t look as bright and inviting on the outside as it is on the inside, and there were helium balloons on the ceiling that were left behind and some silly string on the walls.

Aside from that it was a great spot, Damien was great at accommodating everything and I would 100% recommend people to have a small event here, and I wouldn’t rule it out for myself in the future.

This is a great and affordable place to host a party. Not too big, not too small if you're looking at about 40 some people.
The owner is very easy going and he accommodated my needs. The place was very clean when we got there.

I wanted to throw a Halloween party and had already booked a party room at a condo. When this fell through at the last minute, I was stuck searching for a place to host my party on the specific Sat Oct 28 that I wanted. Everywhere else was really expensive and extravagant. From the moment I spoke to Damein on the phone, he was polite, courteous, and professional.

The event space was exactly the size I wanted and the price was great! I will definitely be hosting here again :)

This place was perfect to host a small Halloween Party! It came with everything you would need (sound system, chairs, fridge, microwave, etc). The venue itself is very flexible and easy to mold into whatever themed event. Damien himself is a very gracious owner who responds to any questions or concerns in a very timely manner. He takes you thoroughly through the steps and process from your initial inquiry to the end of the event. I would recommend this place for any event! Will definitely be rebooking in the future.

Absolutely amazing service here. I had my husband's 65th birthday here. They provide almost everything a person may need for a party. Music set up, lighting, bar area, fridge, bar fridge, tables, cHairs etc. And the customer service??? Couldn't ask for a nicer man. Will definitely hold more parties here!!!! This is honestly the best space to have a party in Scarborough! The party room is intimate with just the right amount of space to chat and mingle with your guests, but also has enough room for a dance floor. The owner Damein is really easy to work with and is flexible enough to allow you to meet all of your party and decorating needs. I would definitely recommend this place!!! Thanks so much!

This was my second time at the Maritime Recreation Hall but my first time hosting the event! Damein was always available to answer any questions from the moment I inquired about booking, up until the second we left the venue! It's an extremely convenient location and you are free to set up the room to your liking. Between the first event I attended to this one, the hall has added a fridge, a microwave and dumpsters that made the experience and clean up 2x better! It's evident that the staff takes feedback very seriously and will do all they can to accommodate the host. 10/10 would recommend!!

Damien was really easy to work with, very understanding and kind. I had my sons 2nd Birthday there on November 26th and I was able to have 60 people fit comfortably. The kids had the most fun and the sound system worked great. Would definately recommend this hall to others.

Saturday September 17th 2016 I threw a 67th Surprise Birthday party for my mother at Maritime Recreation Hall. This was the first time I have been to this Hall and all I can say is its the best Hall I ever have rented. Damein who is the owner is an amazing person to work with and a wonderful person in general. Everyone enjoyed the set up and enjoyed every minute. I would definitely recommand this hall to anyone. I would definitely book this hall for any event moving forward.

My first time at Maritime Rec Hall & it was definitely worth it! I held my 23rd birthday with about 40 guests.Tables, chairs, speaker systems were all part of the package along with fridges & microwave to accomodate food/drinks. No Wifi but that was never an issue during the event. Damien was very easy to work with and was ready with quick responses to any questions/concerns. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends & family :)!

Hey, I had my best friend's 19th Birthday here and it was great! We had lots of room and having the speakers included was awesome. Thankfully security was also included which helped a lot. Damien was helpful and included garbage bags along with table cloths. If you needed help, all you had to do was call him up and he would answer. Not many items that are very breakable so that was also very convenient. All in all, we had an amazing party and we would love to rent the space with Damien again sometime!

Damian was an astute professional and listened to our needs. It was a good experience from a booking post of view. The hall was functional and had some interesting features such as karaoke. The appearance of the hall was a bit unusual due to the colour scheme. There is lighting that can potentially help set the ambiance of the event.

I had my mother's 50th Birthday party here. Everyone one had an awesome time. The place is very spacious, held about 40 people very comfortably.Tables and chairs were provided along with food trays and warmers.
Karaoke machine was great, there were ample of songs to select from. Speaker system was great, aux cord was definitely a bonus. No Wi-Fi ... So download music ahead of time.
Damien is awesome no hassles everything went smoothly.
If your looking for a relaxed environment for any type of party I recommend the Maritime for sure. I've already booked two dates for future events.

If you're on the fence about booking your event in the maritime recreation hall then rest assured, you won't regret it.

My daughter was supposed to have a party at another party room and it was cancelled last minute.

By last minute, I mean the late evening before the scheduled date!

Not only were they able to cater to our last minute request, they made every effort possible to ensure it went smoothly.

Long story short, the place was great and the service was excellent. Oh, and the price was MORE then reasonable.

The Hall was perfect for our occasion & Damien was great at assisting us and helping achieve the decorative look we desired. Security is very strict on bringing alcoholic beverages outside of the hall or smoking inside it. The speakers volume was great for the dance floor, and the airconditing was decent for the heat. Fridges provided for use but must be cleaned at the end of the night, along with any other garbage in the hall. Overall, very convinient location and afforable hall.

We booked Maritime Recreation Hall on more than one occasion, this was the 3rd time we booked this hall. Everytime there was something new and improved. Last summer, the Airconditioning wasn't so great in extreme heat weather, but I found this year there was more than 1 airconditioner unit, the temperature was great. No garbage dumpster, but this time there was garbage dumpster to dump your garbages. One full size fridge and mini fridges and microwaves, even better than how it was the last time, we rented this place. We had a nice Vegas style theme party for my dad's 65th birthday party. For around 50 people it's quite comfortable. Damein, the Maritime Rec Hall manager was wonderful, he took constructive criticism seriously and made some extraordinary improvements. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to throw any type of party. My only other suggestion would be to book the place well in advance. Damein thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

Pros

Central Location, Easily Accessible, Great Atmosphere, Very Hospitable Host, Option for Dj (very loud speaker and aux cords for your own music as well), Option for Bar (if you choose to have a bar make sure you get a liquor license (Damein will inform you of this) any alcohol on the premises has to be purchased on the liquor license, and you are responsible for any alcohol and/or alcohol related issues, not the rec hall).

Cons

No where to dump your garbage from the party, as they do not have their own dumpsters and there were only two mini fridges to put food in. A full sized fridge and a mini fridge would have served better for tje space.

Damein was a great host, very reasonably priced, and I would definitely book here again for future events.
