I have visited this location on a number of occasions for a range of medical needs and have been frustrated nearly every time. The front staff is always professional and courteous, but the waits are long, even with an appointment and I have serious concerns about patient care. Last year I brought in a friend who was not feeling well and had chest pain radiating to his jaw, arm, and ear, associated with numbness. The doctor sent him home with albuterol, antibiotics, and a diagnosis of upper respiratory infection/ acute bronchospasm, despite him denying any respiratory symptoms. She even went so far as to document that he complained of these symptoms despite him implicitly denying them. Due to having bad insurance and the fact that Centra Care is urgent care he was charged 150 dollars for this 10 minute appointment. Less than an hour after his appointment I noticed that he had vesicles on his shoulder and I realized that he actually had shingles. We returned as soon as they opened the next day and were told that there would be no new charge, he even received a bill stating "today's visit 0 dollars". His shingles diagnosis was confirmed and he was written a script for the appropriate medication. Less than a month later he received a bill in the mail for 150 dollars, this one for his second visit. We were referred to Linda Hill, the medical director with our questions regarding the bill. After describing the situation we were told that CentraCare is not responsible for formulating diagnosis about medical conditions. Had my friend complained about a rash he would have been diagnosed with shingles, but he came in with nonspecific complaints and was therefore treated appropriately and would be charged for both visits. She was rude, unapologetic, and completely ignored our claim of misdiagnosis despite having a printed document stating that he was being diagnosed with a respiratory illness and bronchospasm. I would strongly recommend only going to CentraCare for minor issues like sinus infections, colds, or such illnesses.
