I was really nervous when I arrived because I have never trained martial arts before but that quickly went away. All the trainers and staff were super welcoming and took me under their wing. I got to work with Coach Southside and Coach Jamal mostly. They taught me so many cool techniques and I am happy with how I progressed in my month training here.

Stepping into Crazy 88 was a life changing decision I will always be thankful for. The people I train with are not just training partners but family. We spend time together on and off the mats pushing each other to our potential every day. I have lost 22 lbs. since starting jiu jitsu at Crazy 88. The instructors push each individual to become stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally. Overall, Crazy 88 has become like my home and has given me the opportunity to become an all around better person. Lots of MMA gyms are all guys which can be intiimidating for a woman but all of the guys here are very respectful and make excellent training partners. I'm motivated everyday to eat right, train hard, and live a healthy lifestyle by training here.

Google Crazy 88 and you'll find that Crazy 88 is the best jiu jitsu competition team in Baltimore. What it won't necessarily tell you is that Julius, Coach Tye, and all the other instructors are amazing teachers as well. In my years of training BJJ I haven't come across any instructors who have the same depth of details and knowledge as the coaching team here.

When you combine the level of instruction with a group of awesome students it's hard to imagine a better place to train.

As one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools on the East coast, Crazy 88 is home to some of the best international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors and their coaches. Not only do they produce world champions in jiu-jitsu, but they also have a large population of other students just looking for a new hobby or a fun way to get in shape. Their incredibly detailed instructions help to provide key insight into the purpose and fundamentals of each technique as well as how they can be applicable to people of all different physical attributes. Coach Julius is excellent at picking up on the most minute errors and fixing them on the spot. I especially enjoy Coach Tye's nogi classes where he is able to push me to my limits all while having a good time and learning great techniques. Lastly, one aspect that truly separates Crazy 88 from the rest is the friendly and inviting atmosphere around the gym. Everyone is willing to lend a hand and all egos are left at the door. I cannot emphasize enough that if you are in the Baltimore area you come and give them a try!

I love Crazy 88 because it's a very friendly learning atmosphere, the instructors are patient, and the class sizes aren't overcrowded. Crazy 88 has a good mix of beginners and veterans and a wide range of ages. It's perfect for everyone!
