The doctor was lovely and everyone at the office was pleasant but why on earth was I scheduled for an exam if you wouldn’t be able to get me in for the actual cleaning until next year? With all the craziness with insurance, I might not even be covered for this location at that point and why are you going to make me wait when you’re telling me I have a cavity? The whole concept of not having an available hygienist for months is hard for me to wrap my head around. It’s especially crazy nobody told me of their unique (dragged out) process when I first set up the appointment complaining about pain and suspecting the cavity.

Update: they scheduled my cleaning for August 2027!! Almost an entire year later. I will be going elsewhere. That’s insane.

Everything went well on my visit today to have my teeth cleaned. The only disappointment was that I could not see Tina, my hygenist for many years now. However, the hygenist who cleaned my teeth was very nice and friendly and I did like her. The young man who assisted her was very cordial and the office staff was professional and friendly.

I cannot emphasize enough how incredible my experience was here. Dr. Chen was extremely professional, communicative, considerate, thorough, and gentle-handed. Leslie was equally amiable, genuine, considerate, and communicative. I have had traumatizing dental experiences in the past and this visit helped me heal a little bit and reduce my overall dental anxiety. I am not dreading future appointments and feel safe, comfortable, and confident in this healthcare team. Will 100% be back.

WE LOVE this office!! The doctor is very kid friendly and we love all the staff! Especially the front desk. This is a great office. My 7 year old did a filling without any hiccups. They gave her control over the pace.

I’ve lived in Oregon for most of my life and have had the WORST experiences with Gentle Dental’s in person Staff at the happy valley office and as of yesterday, the Hillsboro office. I will be switching dental offices once again after this experience unfortunately, but my experience needs to be shared so other black women here are mindful of what they may or may not experience.

Yesterday (7/18) I went in for an appointment at the Hillsboro Tualatin valley office and was greeted by a seemingly nice person at the front desk.

My appointment was at 1 and I showed up 15 min in advance (per the guidance sent form gentle dental ahead of my appointment). After I was checked in, about 4-5 other people arrived after me. Every 5- 10
Min or so I look up and notice that one by one each and every one of them were called back for their appointments. Initially, I didn’t mind because the first few totally could’ve had appointments before mine and could’ve been running late.

But once I saw that ALL of them were called back and the time was now 1:10, and I was the ONLY patient in the lobby, it immediately felt uncomfortable and unfair given how long I had been there.

I go back up to the counter and ask why I have not been asked back given how long I’d been there. Another front desk person was there at this point and asked for my information and told me they were apparently “ turning down a room for me”. And what do you know, the Tech or nurse (don’t know the official title) who was apparently taking me back was standing behind the desk as this conversation was happening.. for how long? I don’t know.

Of course, I don’t know if there were people before me who had imaging (however only 1 person walked OUT of the office while I was there) and maybe it takes some time to clean an imaging room? I don’t know the ins and outs. However, I’ve have never in my life waited that long for a simple imaging appointment and watched everyone who arrived after me get seen before me.

I did not receive one apology from either of the staff members who were present for the conversation, And the Tech/ person who pulled me back had a little bit of an attitude initially LOL.

TBH.. The best part of my experience at this location was the Dentist herself, she was very kind and very thorough which I appreciated. Believe it or not, respectful customer service and being considerate of *Every one’s * time goes a long way especially when you’re dealing with more than one staff member. Unfortunately this is my last straw with the gentle dental chain dentist offices and I will be cancelling my upcoming appointments.
