I was a customer for 30 years and had a terrible experience in dec 2016. My 7 month old battery kept dying and I was told that it was fine and that I just needed to buy new battery. I had documented what was happening with the battery and shared this with service department. They told me that I just needed to buy a new battery. The person installing it reviewed with me the problems and immediately told me that it was not a battery problem. However I was charged for the new battery anyway and advised there was nothing different to be done. I left and went to a different dealership who quickly fixed the issue and advised that I should never have had to buy a new battery and that my 7 month old battery should have been returned to me esp since I had a receipt from that same day stating the battery was fine.....very very dishonest service department and I would never again deal with them. I have shared this story with every one who even considers going to sterling Honda
I'm just appalled by my experience

As my Honda CRV was recalled for air bag issues, I was advised by Honda Canada to contact my local Honda dealership regarding a rental, while waiting for the part to come in.and resolve the problem.
I Called Honda Sterling in Hamilton, On., and was put in touch with the service manager, Steve Emilio. My experience dealing with Steve was excellent from our first telephone conversation to our meeting and final arrangements for a car rental. His service was professional, courteous, efficient and I felt supported in this somewhat stressful and unfamiliar situation.
As a result of this positive experience, I already have, and will, recommend Sterling Honda to others.

Thank you, Steve.

Beware of taking your cars or buying cars from Sterling Honda on Upper James! They have the worst customer service and our experience with them has been horrible! 2009 Honda Civics are on a paint recall. We took ours in Monday May 16th, for a paint job and it's been down hill ever since. We were given a vague date as to when it would be done (Wednesday morning or Thursday night). During this time we were offered neither a shuttle or rental and had to arrange transportation for the week on our own. However, now the dates provided have passed and they have neither called or touched base as to the status of the car. Any attempts to contact them have been redirected to voicemail since their reception 'doesn't take messages/ doesn't deal with those issues'. Unfortunately they won't even get back to your voicemail messages it seems. We stopped by in person as well to inquire only to be told the person in charge had already left. The long weekend is coming up and we still don't have any clue about the status of our car! Getting to work, buying groceries, going to appointments has been such a hassle! If we knew this was the case we'd have never gone. Upper James Honda is the worst, so stay clear!

I have bought two new vehicles from Sterling Honda. I purchased the rust proofing for my Honda Pilot. When I purchased the warranty I specifically asked if I had to bring the vehicle in for inspection and if that was the case I did not want to purchase the warranty. I was informed that I was not required to bring the vehicle in for yearly inspections. I now have minor rust starting to form around my rear wheel wells. I brought my vehicle in and was informed that it would not be covered due to the fact that I did not bring the vehicle in for yearly inspections. I made a $1000.00 mistake purchasing this coverage and believing what I was told by the Honda employee. Obviously I was very angry as Sterling Honda would not compensate me for anything. I am currently looking to buy a new vehicle and won't be purchasing it from Sterling Honda as I have lost trust in them.

About 7 months ago I noticed a used Honda Accord EX V6 at Sterling Honda in Hamilton. I live just north of Barrie so it was quit a commute. It was the exact vehicle I was looking for so I took the plunge. I negotiated a price over the phone with Steve Dorman, arranged a day and time to come pick up the vehicle and inspect to ensure vehicle in good working order. The day prior to picking up the Honda Accord I noticed some bad reviews online about this dealership. I contacted Tony Reed General Sales Manager via email and expressed my concerns about these negative reviews. He explained to me that Sterling Honda tries to make every customer happy, and sometimes you can not please everyone, and some of the negative reviews were not brought to the dealerships attention to address. The following day I took the drive down to Hamilton and met Steve Dorman to take a look at the vehicle. It was in pristine condition and had been well cleaned, it looked to be in great shape and took it for a test drive everything went very well. There was one concern about one of the two key fobs not working properly. Steve promptly took it to service and had it fixed in minutes. I have now had the vehicle for approx. 7 months and just regular maintenance, very happy with the purchase. I would like to thank Sterling Honda for a pleasent car buying experience and would not hesitate to recommend to friends. PS please mail me the service records for vehicle I think I left them at the dealership :) Grant

Unfortunately, I will have to concur with the other reviewers, for a different reason, though. On my third car (Accord) I leased from them, I had a problem from day one, that I had to return it there to be fixed. Then I noticed an abnormal wind/road noise coming from the passenger's side. Starting the very first week I had it, I took it there at least 10 times, and all the times they could not find anything. I have had this car for four years and I hated it for that noise. At last, my lease period is expiring, an inspector looks at the car and finds that the right door up to hood has been repainted. I have never had any accident with that car. They sold me a damaged and repaired car for new! I cannot be sure who caused that, Honda or the dealer, but they should have at least try (or pretend to) find out what had happened. My suspicion is that an attempted test drive ended badly in an accident, the car was 'repaired' and subsequently was sold to me as new.

NO STARS FROM ME FOR THIS DEALERSHIP! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE CARS THEY SELL!! MY TRANSMISSION BLEW AFTER 100,000 KM AND ONLY 4 YEARS AND I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THEM TO COVER IT FOR A MONTH NOW! THEY MADE ME PAY FOR THE LABOUR AT $1000.00 AND AT THE SAME TIME ADMITTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION!!! DO NOT GO TO STERLING HONDA ON UPPER JAMES HAMILTON!
