Went in for a dot physical as a type 1 diabetic. Sat in a waiting room for two hours for an urgent care that likely does dot physicals and drug tests as its main form of income and patient experience all day.

Didn’t say a word, followed their instructions and this was my personal experience. Take what you will from it. What do I know, I have only worked at a hospital doing education for 10 years.

While I was likely not seen by a RN for my check up. They were nice and courteous. They clearly didn’t know that my sugar at 50mg was low due to the fact they said “that seems very normal”. When the “doctor” or medical professional came in and was concerned with the sugar reading and ask to see my Dexcom meter which would clearly show my sugar was fine up until an hour of waiting. It seems they didn’t understand or for that matter care when it was shown that over the 3,6,9 and 12 hour readings. That my sugar had been high, and then at a normal / stable reading for a type 1 diabetic. Apparently it was kind of complicating to read the Dexcom meter hence why children the age of 3 use them and parents rely on their accuracy every single day.

I’ve been diabetic for my entire life. So to hear another “healthcare professional” say from the other room “that sugar is super low, they shouldn’t be driving period” for not only me to hear but anyone else in the thin walled facility is a little concerning. Then allowing me to leave the facility without even asking if I’m ok, let alone able to drive was telling.

I understand the complexity and variety of people seen and the idea that it is a business at the end of the day, but to call this place professional would be giving it and its staff too much credit. Thanks for the headache. Thanks for listening to someone dealing with diabetes their entire life with very deaf ears.

Desk folks were great. Wait was ridiculously long to go back and pee in a cup and blow a breathalyzer. I’m a firefighter in a village with already strained staffing and I was held there for quite a while, meantime my station was down a valuable paramedic.

The gal I worked with was great. So was the gentleman I worked with for the breathalyzer. One Inwas in it took no time at all. The wait just to get back was entirely too long.

I received thee BEST customer service at Concentra than I have received anywhere in a very long time! Laura, at the front desk and Tamia who administered the drug screen were so kind and professional. I wrote a letter so moved was I by the way I was treated. I was stressed and very ambivalent but each put my mind at ease by listening with empathy. Thank you so very, very much Laura and Tamia. I was in good spirits when I left. Concentra is lucky to have you both!

The staff were very helpful and polite! Kid friendly and fast paced even though they were short staffed! One of the staff members even let me use her phone and helped with my child while I was getting my physical! They also have snacks, water and interesting programs playing on the tv in the waiting room.
