Beautiful restaurant with a really nice atmosphere, attentive service, and clearly high-quality ingredients. We came as a group of six and ordered a wide variety of dishes, including Crab Malabar, Kerala Cakes, Palak Chaat, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Shank, Duck, Beef Short Rib, naan, and dessert.
The standouts for us were definitely the Crab Malabar, Kerala Cakes, and Palak Chaat. Those had the most flavor, texture, and brightness. The seafood and meat quality overall was very good, and you can tell they use good ingredients.
That said, our biggest issue was that many of the dishes felt a little under-spiced and milder than expected. We are Indian, so our expectations for seasoning and heat may be different, but several entrées tasted more restrained than we hoped. Nothing was bad, but some dishes felt like they were toned down for a broader palate rather than having the depth and spice we were expecting from Indian food at this price point.
Overall, it’s a beautiful place with good service and quality ingredients. I would recommend it for the atmosphere and certain standout dishes, especially the crab dishes and chaat, but I’d suggest asking for more spice if you prefer bolder Indian flavors.

This was our first visit to Ananda. We have been Peerce's before though.

The property is very appealing as is the interior. Plenty of parking.

We arrived 15 minutes prior to our time, and we had to wait (which is ok) for the tables to be ready. As mentioned in the food section below, my guess that the restaurant was somewhat understaffed when we went.

We were expecting to be underwhelmed but the dishes surprised us. They were different but excellent at the same time. We ordered Crab Kochi, Palak Chat and Burra Chicken for appetizers and each one was good, Burra chicken especially so.

For the entree we ordered Dharamsala Duck, Garam Masala goat, Prawn Balchao, Jingha Karari and Halibut. They were all excellent. The restaurant was clearly struggling with staff stressed out. Three of us asked for Indian level of spicy. We got medium to low spice. Garam Masala goat was to be American Spicy. It came out as Indian spicy. There was also a large gap (almost an hour?) between serving of appetizers and entree. Wait staff kept us informed about the delay with apology. My guess is that Sunday evenings are not busy but being Sunday before Memorial day saw lot more footfall or may be a level of absenteeism or both.

For desserts we ordered Cardamom Ice Cream, Gulab Jamun with Cardamom Ice Cream and Molten Lava Cake. They were all excellent.

Clearly service was not up to the mark for an upscale restaurant like Ananda. But then every restaurant has an off day I suppose. Let me leave it there.

We had such a wonderful evening celebrating my wife’s birthday at Ananda Restaurant—honestly, it felt less like dinner and more like a mini celebration of life (and excellent food 😄).
We started with the samosa chaat, which was absolutely delicious—crispy, tangy, and bursting with flavor. For the mains, the lamb chops were the real star of the show. I’ve had lamb chops many times, but never quite like this—whatever magic the chef is working in that kitchen, I fully support it. Juicy, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented.
There was also another fantastic appetizer that deserves a shoutout—unique, flavorful, and plated like a piece of art. My wife ordered the chicken tikka masala, which was rich and clearly made with high-quality ingredients and spices. It’s cooked in pure ghee, so yes, it leans on the indulgent side—but hey, it’s a birthday, calories don’t count!
The mango lassi was excellent—refreshing and just the right balance of sweet and creamy.
The ambiance really elevated the experience. We were seated near the fireplace, which added such a cozy and elegant touch. The whole place strikes a perfect balance between traditional Indian (Punjabi) flavors and fine dining sophistication.
Service was equally impressive—kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A special thank you to Deepika, who made our evening even more pleasant with her warmth and friendliness.
All in all, this place clearly has a talented chef behind it and a team that cares about the experience. Highly recommended—we’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!

Ananda never disappoints! Food and service was phenomenal! We got the butternut squash soup, which has an amazing flavor and just a bit of spice and crunch. The salad greens were fresh. The chana and vegetable jalfrezi were very flavorful and cooked perfectly.

5 stars all around! I’ve been a loyal customer of Ananda for several years (I work nearby and often grab dinner to-go), and I am always impressed—by the food, the service, and the luxurious ambiance. Today, we hosted our company luncheon here, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we've had in a very long time!

From the moment you walk in, the warm, cozy, upscale dĂ©cor welcomes you. The appetizers were a huge hit—Meat Samosas, Veggie Samosas, and the Crab Cake appetizer were all exceptional. My Lamb entrĂ©e was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The Caramel Crunch ice cream was incredible, and the Cardamom ice cream was just as amazing.

The entrĂ©es my coworkers ordered looked fantastic as well—Chicken Tikka Masala, Shrimp dishes, and the vegetarian plates all looked beautifully prepared. Every plate on the table was completely empty by the end
the ultimate sign of a phenomenal meal.

Ananda is truly a gem in Howard County—perfect for business meetings, date nights, or a beautiful meal with family. If you're looking for delicious food, outstanding service, and a stunning atmosphere (complete with open fireplaces throughout the restaurant), this place will never disappoint!
