My favorite store since moving up that way. Customer service is top notch, and keep those yummy chocolate bars in stock, you know which ones...🙂

The Thornbury food land is a great grocery store. The people working there are nice andhelpful. The store is bright and airy. And clean. There's great parking. The produce is fresh. The prices are reasonable. Great selection of fruit and vegetables. It's a pleasure to shop there.

This is the only supermarket we could find in the area. The food prices are somewhat higher than in many other cities, but with limited competition nearby, it’s understandable that prices tend to be higher unless you bring most of your groceries to the cottage. In any case, we were happy to find this supermarket. We bought ingredients and cooked dinner at our cottage.

I have shopped twice at this store now and the customer service is lacking. They do not got out of there way to assist customers, give the impression they are not happy to be working there - bakery, cashiers, staff in aisles - all the same. Will think twice before shopping here again

Foodland Thornbury at 105 Arthur St W is one of those neighbourhood grocery stores that makes you want to linger. It’s bright, well-lit, and spotless - shelves are tidy, floors gleam, and the produce looks like it was just stocked. The home-style bakery smells amazing, the full-service meat counter has a real butcher, and there’s seafood, hot deli, sushi from the Bento Sushi Chef, ready-to-serve meals from “Our Kitchen,” floral, and party platters. Staff are consistently described as friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and the store feels safe and welcoming.
But that small-town convenience comes with a price tag. Many locals note Foodland Thornbury is expensive compared to No Frills, Walmart, or discount banners. You’re paying for the service, cleanliness, and selection, not bargain pricing. On a typical trip, most carts ring in higher than we’d like.
We did score a win this time: pork loin chops were on special and the butcher cut them exactly how we like - great quality, fair price. We did get a great basil plant as well. That deal made the trip worthwhile. Unfortunately, everything else from produce to pantry staples felt steep. A bag of apples, dairy, or brand-name snacks that run $3-$4 at discount stores were $5-$7 here.
So Foodland Thornbury is clean, nice, and a pleasure to shop in, with solid meat and ready meals. For weekly bulk runs, though, it’s tough on the budget. We’ll keep going for the service, the odd meat sale like those pork loin chops, and when we need something fast, but for most of the list we still have to drive to cheaper stores.
