Visited the Denny’s Broadway location for the first time. This location is more modern and newer than most of the other locations of the lower mainland. We got the birthday grand slam and crepe slam, both which were consistent with our expectations. The crepe did have too much cream cheese filling that we had to scrape off but it was still good.

Staff was friendly and attentive. Also great that they offer a free parking since it can be quite difficult to find parking in the area.

Today is my birthday, and I started my day in this place — it was amazing. The atmosphere and decor are beautiful, and the staff are very kind and welcoming, especially one gentleman whose name I unfortunately don’t know (sir, you truly made my day!).

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to start their birthday on a great note.

Surprising ambience for a Denny’s. Not complaining though! Very nice interior and one of the fancier washrooms I’ve seen. Food was decently good as well. Our server Arantxa was very nice, and was fun to talk to. Should probably keep an eye on Hannah though..

Wow! What a deal for 55+ ! Not sure if that’s for over 55 years old, or IQ. In either case, I qualify : ).

2 pieces fish & chips WITH SOUP for $15.99 (Feb 2026) plus another 15% off for Seniors Thursday = $13.59!

Fish is OK, somewhat small, definitely from frozen. Didn’t like the tartar sauce - runny, no body. Fries not soggy; much better than expected. And lots of chicken and veggies in the soup!

Not a Michelin rated place but good value meal to fill your stomach. Will go back.

Always my go to I love this place so much I’ve been coming here pretty much weekly for years. Arantxa was my server today and she did a great job water was always filled (huge) and food + order was taken punctually.

Have been to this location a couple times now. Was nice the first visit but noticed that the food and service have gotten better. Space is nice with an interesting bar/lounge vibe (probably from takeover of previous business). Food was well made, pancakes fluffy, fresh eggs and nicely fried/seasoned red potatoes. Service was very friendly and attentive.

Recommend trying their new feature apple crisp pancakes. Definitely on the sweet side but very tasty.

We also learned that changes have been made to their birthday special. It’s no longer any item with a $14.95 credit but must order the grand slam to qualify.

They are watering down their orange juice. Asked for a vodka and orange juice.
The color looked wrong , the taste told the fact: the juice had been watered down.
Maybe a first timer or millenial wouldn't have noticed but I'm from the 50's generation.
Shame on you destroying Denny's.

Supervisor Attitude 👎🏽

My server was extremely polite and courteous. He deserves a promotion. However, I had a complaint and the lady supervisor (Indian) had the worst attitude I have ever encountered. She was extremely rude, egotistical and challenged my complaint, which the server agreed with me that she was rude. I hope this is read by someone at Dennys head office. We really don’t need attitude in the hospitality industry.

Yesterday on a clear sunny day we were walking up Broadway looking for a patio to dine outside and enjoy the sunny day. The Denny's on West Broadway has a lovely patio that is in full sun, no construction within sight and there was another couple dining outside so we knew the patio was open. When we went in and requested to sit outside the hostess said the patio was closed and we couldn't sit outside because of the construction. We said there is no construction and there is another couple eating outside. She then said no we couldn't sit outside because the servers didn't want to go outside. So...... we left. We found it very hard to understand after Covid and all the struggles that businesses had that on a nice sunny day they would refuse to serve us outside especially since they were already serving a table on the patio.

I thought it was just a Denny's. Boy, was I ever wrong. Two friends and I sat in this quintessential breakfast joint, and then found out that it was also a Bar One. Honestly, we were pretty dumbstruck. Never had we thought that we could take advantage of both Grand Slams and a confused draught beet menu — at the same time.

*** Owing to the pandemic, I hadn't visited Victoria in years. I ached for the sound of the waves crashing against the harbour walls. When I think about my time there, there's one physical sensation that overcomes me — the low, raspy, comforting voice of Bob. His calm, reassuring voice betrays how suddenly we were forced to part. That voice that always coaxed the hair on the back of my neck into standing on end. ***

At so many restaurants today, you're bombarded with conversation. Servers asking if you're okay; if you need a drink; if you've been helped yet; if you'd like something to eat. Not here. At Bar One | Denny's, they take a more casual, family-like approach. You don't get help unless you ask for it. We asked. And even then, we had to fight for it. We think that this made us stronger people.

*** I walked timidly back into the Harbour House Restaurant. Would he remember me? Would it even matter that I'd come back just for this? I worried that after everything that had happened with Ronny, that Bob wouldn't be able to stand the sight of me. That's why I was so anxious when I saw him step out of the kitchen, and our eyes locked. ***

The food is fine. The tater tots had extra bits on them, and we weren't super stoked on that; the breakfast on the Denny's side of the menu was an obvious highlight. The best part of any Denny's breakfast —

*** — is getting Grand Slammed by Bob. ***
