The physical facility is very nice. The physical therapists/occupational therapists are extremely professional, friendly, and thorough. My elderly father benefited from their expertise, but at Brookdale, patients only receive one hour of physical therapy per day, and none on the weekends. (after his insurance benefits expired, the daily costs to remain for more treatment were exorbitant, and so we chose to leave). I found the CNAs (certified nursing assistants) and the maintenance men to be the nicest, most helpful among the staff, while the nurses were not as welcoming or interactive; I would especially like to commend the following CNAs; Zach, Rahab, Chantay, and the maintenance men; Jeremiah, and Kelvin. It is a good place to convalesce after surgery and begin physical therapy, but it would not be a good long-term option.

I couldn't give negative stars..theirs would be a -5â. Overdosing my mom on blood thinner.. I removed her. She
lived another two and a half months after I pulled her out of that place. She would have died within a week if I had left her there, my other review got the Word out. Hopefully out of those 5000 views, I helped to save someone else's parents' life.

Donât let the beautiful building and area of town fool you. I wouldnât take my dog here. My mother was here for skilled nursing and rehab for 20 days. With the exception of a couple of nurses the care was awful. She was yelled at by staff to get up and go to bathroom with no assistance and some help was ugly to her which I did address but I was very disappointed at the lack of care, bad attitudes and not enough nurses. Oh and when I brought her home I found a very bad bruise on her upper arm from being grabbed and pulled on in the bed.

If no stars was an option I would have opted for that. The Birmingham location is horrible. The nursing staff donât care about patients. The director of clinical services doesnât care what the nursing staff do. They donât like to be asked questions. They donât answer the phone. They donât know that a fall risk patient shouldnât be left unattended. They lie and say they provide assistance for ADLâs and donât. If you act like you care about your loved ones therapy care plan they make sure to do therapy when you are not around. If you canât stay 24/7 with your loved one I wouldnât waste time sending my them here trusting the will care for a patient. Not clean. Diet restrictions they donât care. Just piss poor attitude and it show in the quality of care.

My mother was only there 3 months. Susan Potts was director at the time. They lost my mother's partial, they could not match outfits for my mother. My mother had beautiful hair. I would pay a private person to come in wash and blow dry her hair. I went one Saturday morning to find my mother in tears. They had just set her in shower and got her hair wet. There were specific directions for the medical staff that they totally ignored. They would lose her clothes, food was horrible. I watched many people lose love ones due to neglect. The health dept. Put 15 tags on the dining error. The woman over the dinning area was in cahoots with Susan Potts. Do Not put your love one there.
