Ms Lorena Guerra was excellent to work with. Listened to every one of my concerns, I didn't feel rushed. She gave exceptional advice on my personal matters and showed wisdom and care throughout my time with her. Looking forward to having her in my corner. Highly recommend this office and Lorena.

I highly recommend Spectrum Family Law. Attorney Janela K. Francisco was incredibly helpful and compassionate, guiding me through every step of the process. She was professional, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to her work. Thanks to Atty. Janela’s support, I was able to set up my court‑ordered parenting arrangement in a fair and timely manner.

This review is provided by the opposing party in a matrimonial matter, not a client of Spectrum Family Law. Here are the procedural difficulties and chronic delays encountered during my personal dealings with the Edmonton firm, with the intention of providing information to others making decisions about legal representation. The validity of the factual claims presented here is supported by the firm’s failure to respond to my correspondence instead opting instead to serve me with a cease and desist letter.
Spectrum Family Law’s communication techniques to resolve this divorce have been less "effective" and more "chronically delayed, with extended periods of unresponsiveness leading to significant procedural stagnation. This includes:
- CHRONIC DELAYS: Extended periods of unresponsiveness, including gaps of months between email replies (at times attributed to vacation) and attempts to schedule meetings with you and your client were unacknowledged, and numerous emails were unanswered.
- ARBITRATION FOLLOW-UP: 7 requests were required to complete the T2220 RRSP transfer form after the Arbitration Ruling.
- REFUSAL TO COLLABORATE: I have requested numerous meetings (2024, 2025, & 2026), 4-way meeting, and to jointly attend an Alternative Dispute Resolution Meeting. No meetings were scheduled, so I consider this a refusal to collaborate.
- ESCALATORY TACTICS: The regular use of threats of court actions, threatening to seek enhanced costs against me if I do not sign their Divorce Judgement, in addition to threatening a petition to enforce a name change.
- Writing a CEASE AND DESIST LETTER to me with my employer’s Human Resources address on it. Introducing a spouse's professional affairs into a divorce proceeding and a factual review of your firm is an unethical and highly inappropriate practice.
- DOCUMENTATION DEFICIENCY: The firm is required to prepare Divorce Documents that include ‘all aspects of the divorce’. The firm's draft of the Corollary Relief Order was not accepted as it omitted essential financial support provisions for the children while in post-secondary education, which is a mandatory component for the Joint Desk Divorce submission. This firm was aware that we had two children with one currently in post-secondary and one accepted to post-secondary, yet they opted to not include them. This conduct suggests a strategy focused on leveraging every available tool to force an unfair settlement, rather than facilitating a quick and fair resolution for the family.
- UNWARRANTED EXPENSE DISCREPANCY: The firm requested reimbursement for the previous ten months of mutually agreed-upon children's expenses, claiming they were not qualifying Section 7 expenditures, despite both parties having paid them consistently on the first of every month.
In my view, the firm's conduct reflects unprofessional and inefficient handling of the divorce process.

We just went through a very long adoption process (6 months) with the help of Spectrum Family Law. Lorena and Karina were absolutely incredible. They were very patient, knowledgeable, understanding, and offered a very personal and compassionate touch that I honestly was not expecting to see during this process. They Held their ground when things didn't exactly go as planned and supported us throughout the whole process. They even kept their word on pricing despite the process being drawn out several months. I would recommend Karina and Lorena to anyone looking for Family Law representation. Because of them, I now have one very happy daughter.
