This was a favorite go to pub before COVID. It needs an update to everything. The food has definitely slipped way down. The late afternoon bar staff was more interesting in talking with a friend then serving the few partons at the bar.

I really enjoyed the entertainment Matt Gray Wolf Hunter had me singing and dancing. We only had the fried oreos (first time every trying them) they were good especially with the ice cream. Staff and customers were friendly, as this was our first time here as well. The bathroom smelled really good as well. I just drove from Maryland so that was the first spot I visited, lol.

I've been here before and had good experiences but my most recent visit wasn't great. Server was terrific but food quality was sub par. Steak sandwich was over done but fries were cold. She brought me another order that was hot so that helped. Had a show to see across the street so I didn't have time to wait on another sandwich. Eating out, even pub food is expensive and it's a real disappointment when the kitchen can't cook your food right. Hope they get their act together, this place used to be much better.

The Jesus fries were amazing!! My Shepherd's Pie was very bland and was not covered by crusted potatoes. Temperature was warm, not at all hot. My wife got the grilled cheese with bacon, which she described as "ok." Service was excellent.

BUGS IN MY MEAL! RUN AWAY!! NOT SAFE! Village Idiot in Patchogue delivered one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have encountered in recent memory. Upon opening my takeout order, I was met with the unmistakable presence of a fly resting on my food. This was not a case of poor seasoning or presentation but a clear lapse in basic hygiene. The discovery raises serious questions about food safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen. When I contacted the restaurant, the response was dismissive and devoid of concern or accountability (no manager on site). Dining establishments bear a fundamental responsibility to ensure that what leaves their kitchen is safe to consume. In this instance, Village Idiot failed completely. I would strongly advise others to consider alternative restaurants in Patchogue where food integrity and customer care are taken seriously.

RESPONSE TO OWNER: I called immediately and was told a manager was not in and that one would call me back. No one called back. Filled out an inquiry and a manager named Nicholas emailed me after but that’s about it. I had a good inspector pay the restaurant a visit.
