Absolute joke. Had to call them five minutes after 8a when they're supposed to be open to unlock the front door. When i did get inside I was told that there was no healthcare provider in the building as they hadn't shown up yet. Ridiculous.

Since Central Stat Care’s owner was arrested for tax evasion, my family and I started going here. On December 6th, I was having excruciating stomach pains, like doubling over in pain. My sister walked me inside about thirty minutes before they closed, but it seemed they had no interest in servicing anyone else that night. I repeatedly told the nurse I was not CRAMPING, it felt like something was pushing against my gallbladder. Still, the nurse proceeded to prescribe me something for stomach cramps. My sister and I actually HEARD the nurses arguing outside about the medication they were prescribing me because I repeatedly said I wasn’t cramping. They made it more than obvious they were trying to get me out of there as quick as they possibly could because they were ready to lock up and go home. As someone in college studying a field in medicine, I could not imagine not giving a patient the proper care just because I wanted to go home. If you’re not willing to put patient care above everything, don’t become a nurse.

On October 17th, 2024, my wife and four children were leaving the Baton Rouge Zoo when my wife, who was 15 weeks pregnant, began to bleed suddenly in our car from her womb. The bleeding had came on very quickly and increased greatly within just a few minutes. We had started to make our way towards the hospital, but this was around 4:30pm so traffic was very bad. According to Google map with current traffic we were at least 40-50 minutes from the hospital. We ended up in traffic in front of Ochsner Urgent Care at 10513 Sullivan Road Central, Suite 100, Baton Rouge, LA 70818. In an act of desperation with the bleeding getting worse, we pulled into Ochsner Urgent Care hoping to get some kind of help. We were fully aware this was not a hospital, but we had hoped that we could at least get some type of help since the situation was urgent.

We pulled up right next to the door and I went in and I heard from the back "I will be with you in a little while." I replied that it was an emergency and explained to the nurse what the situation was, and she informed me that she could do nothing for me. I explained to her that traffic was very bad, and that my wife was actively bleeding in their parking lot, and she still said they could do nothing. So, I exited the building preparing to get back on the road towards the hospital when I saw the bleeding was getting worse. I then ran back into Ochsner Urgent Care and told the nurse that I had spoken with before that I needed them to call 911 immediately and that it was an emergency. They said they would, and at this time an older nurse appeared and asked me the stupid question: "are you concerned for the life of the baby or your wife at this time?" I truly was taken back by the question and in a state of stress and replied, "I don't know." But the truth of the matter was I was only concerned about my wife at this point, because the amount of blood made it obvious that the baby was already dead. After this question she then informed me to not let my wife get out of the car and to not bring her inside the building.

I returned to the car to be with my wife and went back in to check to make sure they had called 911 a few minutes later. The younger nurse who was there when I first went said she had called them, and that the EMS was backed up, but they were sending the fire department in the meantime. My wife was still bleeding and starting to get hot off and on and started sweating like she had a fever. I went in to ask the nurse for some water, and she came out to bring it to me and told me not to let my wife drink much of it in case they had to do surgery and told me to move my car to the handicap parking so they could get her out when EMS arrived. This was the only time anyone from the Ochsner Urgent Care saw my wife. At this moment in time the car door was open and the nurse saw the blood that was running down the edge of the side of the seat. We never saw anyone from the Ochsner Urgent Care again.

The fire department pulled up a few minutes later and they did everything they could while we waited for East Baton Rouge EMS. They checked her blood pressure, and heart rate, tried to start an IV, and provided gauze. The fire department and EMS when they arrived were both upset as well that the Ochsner Urgent Care provided no help other than calling 911 when told to with a woman actively bleeding in front of their doors. When my wife arrived at the hospital she had a blood hemoglobin of 7.9. It was determined that she did have a miscarriage and she was admitted to the hospital and is at home recovering now. I realize that the Ochsner Urgent Care is not a hospital and not an emergency room, but during a "urgent" emergency in a situation where someone actively bleeding under the "urgent" care sign in the parking lot, it would be nice to have some "urgent" emergency training by the staff at Ochsner "Urgent" Care for the next time something like this happens.

I loved my experience here! There was one patient being tended to when I arrived. I was instructed to take a seat and would be attended to shortly. I was immediately called up once the patient in front of me was taken to the back. She took my information, and I started with, “Can you check if you take my insurance?” I showed her the card, and she asked if it was out of state. I’m from Louisiana, just not Baton Rouge. She proceeded to enter all of the insurance information, along with my parents’ information, since the insurance is through them. After almost 15 minutes of inputting information and looking, she was able to pull it up. Apparently my insurance is a smaller name under a larger name. I was incredibly appreciative of her time spent trying to get me the care I so desperately needed. I was immediately taken back and had my vitals checked. Mind you, I’m go going to the back around 7:00 (they close at 7:30). The nurse ran multiple tests to check for Covid and the Flu. All were negative. At this point, I’m in shambles because I thought I had meningitis due to my severe fever and neck/head pain. The doctor checked me out at this point, and decided to order a chest x-ray. Turns out, I had a lower lobe pneumonia infection. They gave me a shot and worked with me to get my Rxs to the correct pharmacy since I’m not from this town. By the end, I left around 8:00 pm. I was scared they would rush me out once it hit 7:30, but they continued to search for what was wrong. They all took excellent care of me (the receptionist, the nurse, the doctor, and the x-ray tech). Thank you Ochsner for helping me when I was at my lowest. I was sick away from my family for the first time, and I was in a brand new town. If you need an urgent care in Central, you will see another urgent care with better reviews. Don’t fall for it and go there like I did. Go to Ochsner.

I have been Sick for a week. I thought it was just side effects from an infusion I had the week earlier but as the days went by I was getting worst. I was weak, nauseous, dizzy and had other problems we won’t discuss on here. We arrived at the Urgent care and I was taken in the back ASAP. The medical staff was so kind and so thoughtful. They made sure that I was comfortable and they listened to my sad story and still smiled. They were in and out of the exam room making sure that I had what I needed. I was very, very sick to my stomach so they brought the doctor in to see me in order for her to order an injection to stop the nausea. That was such a relief because I have been nauseous for several days. The ran tests and explained everything to me thru the entire process. They hooked me up to an IV to give me fluid’s because I was dehydrated. It all took time but they did a great job. I walked out of there feeling soooo much better. What a wonderful team they have there. Thank you all so much you will never know how much you all were appreciated. God Bless you all.
