We got the stuffed patty sandwich with gravy, it was amazing!!! Definitely will be back just for that sandwich and to try more on the menu! The man serving us was super friendly and it was quick too. Note that it is cash only.

I only write reviews after having visited a few times so Im not commenting on a one off experience. I’ve been to this location a few times to order a large jerk chicken with rice and peas and oxtail gravy.

I cant begin to tell you how SALTY this chicken is….i cant even put into words that this is hands down the saltiest chicken I’ve ever eaten. While I ate at home, I wondered ‘did I add salt and forget??’ but I didn’t add salt. I couldn’t even finish it. That was Jan 23rd in pic 1. The last time I went was Feb 5th (pic 2 unfinished meal), I ordered the same just to see if this was a one off.

As the woman added the rice, she asked me if I wanted gravy. I asked what she had and of course, she said ‘oxtail, jerk, curry and I believe stew chicken.’ I was going to try the jerk gravy and I told her that the last time I got jerk chicken, it was SUPER SALTY so Im scared to try the jerk gravy. She said that they are using a different soy sauce which might be more salty. Bruhhh….its like you poured half a pound of salt directly on the chicken!! I told her lets go with the oxtail gravy but if the meal is as salty as last time, I wouldn’t be coming back and we all laughed because I said it with a funny face to lighten the mood as I didn’t want to come off as a ‘jerk’.

Anyway, got home and couldn’t wait to dig in and guess what?? It was just as if not MORE salty. I mean, the salt is really out of control. I saw a few reviews about how salty their chicken was and to beware if you have high blood pressure but they weren’t joking. The rice was dry, the oxtail gravy had zero taste and only made the rice sticky but the jerk…………..man oh man…….SALTY SALTY SALTY!!!!!!!!

Its a shame because the old couple running the place seem like nice enough people and I thank her for sharing that they use different Soy sauce but perhaps they need to lose the soy altogether or balance by cutting down the additional salt you're seasoning with. You can see in Pic 2 that this is what got thrown in the garbage as I couldn't finish it... :(

The atmosphere is clean but small so you're better off taking out.

** I should add that the time before the two aforementioned, we ordered stuffed patties which are beef patties sliced open so they can add cole slaw and (salty) jerk chicken sandwiched in coco bread. First off, its not as filling as you think. I had a beef patty and a stuffed patty and it didnt fill me. I dont remember the chicken being this salty back then though.....perhaps this is when they had the better soy sauce?? Different cooks?? I have no idea...

Wont be going back unless you legit want a heart attack…. Hate to post this but I remember Allwyns since they were at Parkwoods but its definitely not the same. :(

The food here is phenomenal.

Don't come here expecting to be impressed by the interior - it's nothing to write home about.

But goodness the food is SO good!

Everything we ordered was great and I definitely over ate...

Highly recommend this spot - they clearly care about the food above all else!

P.S. bring cash - it's cash only!

Visited recently for a light lunch in the Donlands area. Allwyn's is one of the popular Jamaican spots in the city, with multiple locations throughout with their Donlands Mall location being one of their original locations. They serve many of the usual Jamaican staples such as Coco Bread, Patties, Jerk Chicken and Oxtail dishes.

One of the items they are known for are their sandwiches, which are made with their in-house Coco Bread and filled with either their patty, jerk chicken and coleslaw or a mix of everything. Their Jerk Chicken Sandwich is essentially a couple pieces of boneless jerk chicken and coleslaw wrapped around coco bread. Probably the best value is their stuffed sandwich which contains a mix of everything stuffed within coco bread and a patty.

Overall, it's a recommended spot in the area in terms of value given that the sandwiches are under $10 and small dish versions of their Jerk Chicken and Oxtail on Rice and Peas are around $11-14. Note that it is strictly cash-only (no debit or credit) so it's recommended to come prepared to pay cash

One of the better jerk chicken I've had in Toronto. The coco bread was so soft and tasted delicious, especially with the huge portions of jerk chicken.
However, the patties were quite disappointing. As seen in the pics, the filling was too little on both the chicken and beef patties.
The oxtail was quite good - just the right spice for me, but this could be mild to many. Though this was my first time trying oxtail, I think it was great.
Will visit again, but only for the jerk chicken sandwiches and oxtail!

Good service and very clean restaurant. Ordered the small jerk chicken. Very filling boneless chicken with rice and peas. It tasted great, but it could be better if they added a side along with it. I honestly have had better jerk chicken lunch in scarborough. Will come back to try the oxtail as well. The only downside is that they only take cash in this digital age.
