I had been counting down the days and was super excited to pick up the car on 9/26. Earlier this week I sold our MYLR to make room in the garage for the R2.
Showed up a few mins early and went in right at the time of my appointment. The guy (Steven) who greeted me was pleasant and asked for our ID’s and then walked me over to our car. I told him I would need about 30 minutes to look over the vehicle before accepting delivery and check to make sure everything was okay. He kept on insisting that everything was ready to go and had already been inspected and that I needed to sign the paperwork in the 15 minute timeslot that we were scheduled for. It wasn’t until the fourth time of me telling him I wasn’t going to be signing anything until I had a chance to look over the car that he said all right I don’t know if he’ll be able to help you later because it’s outside of your appointment and then stormed off.
I’m sure that your action made me view the car with a different lens, but I was unimpressed with whoever detailed the car before we got there. There were water streaks that hadn’t been wiped away, inside of the door panels that look like there was polishing compound that hadn’t been cleaned off, part of the interior carpet on rear passenger side wasn’t lined up with the trim piece exposing bare metal underneath (took me 5 mins to get it adjusted properly), and there was a blemish on the paint that was under the clear coat so there isn’t any fixing it. (I have a more critical eye than most, but I’d expect more).
I went back in to find the guy I was working with and he was no where to be found, someone messaged him and didn’t come out for another 10 mins. He sarcastically asked if the car “passed my inspection” and wasn’t helpful whatsoever from that point on. Rushed through the paperwork and left. I spent the next 15 mins trying to get my phone to connect to my car for the digital key and it simply wouldn’t work. I went back in to ask the guy for help connecting to the car and he said I only have 4 mins before my next appointment so that’s all time I have to help. He walked me through everything I just tried and said oh this is a known issue, you’ll have to connect the car to your WiFi at home connect there and left. When I got home that did not in fact work and I had to do a hard reset to get the car connected to my phone. Right after that I took my family for a drive and Autonomy+ kept on giving an error message saying the sensors weren’t ready and didn’t allow for hands free driving. It wasn’t until hours later that worked. Could have been from the hard reset, not sure. Running into tech issues really made me appreciate how well everything on our Tesla worked.
After wiring Rivian $66k earlier this week I would have expected a better experience. Really disappointed with the interaction and experience when picking up the car, followed by the minor issues listed for the first hours of ownership. Last night I went to bed thinking I probably would’ve been happier buying another Tesla. After reading that I realize how dramatic that sounds. Some guy being a complete ass shouldn’t ruin how I feel about the car, but sadly it has to an extent. Maybe I’m wrong as I often am, but really feel like Rivian SLC needs to hire better representatives for their company.

Shoutout to the amazing team at the SLC Service Center!!
For about a week now, my 2026 R1T Dual Max was having front sensor issues. Sometimes they were fine on an hour long drive, sometimes they turned off after two minutes and never came back on. This seemingly made it impossible to change the ride height, completely disabled autonomy, and lit my dashboard up with warning lights.
Then, yesterday, a “service air suspension” warning appeared. I had scheduled a repair for July 27th–the earliest appointment I could get, but the service air suspension warning really worried me, as my partner and I are slated to hit the road today for a Yellowstone road trip.
I decided to head over to the SC to see if they could at least tell me I could limp it up to Yellowstone like this. When I got there, they were amazing. Danielle took the time–right as her lunch arrived, mind you–to check me in early and have a tech look at the truck even though I was WAY before my appointment. After ten or so minutes, she came out and said, “you have suspension codes, and I want you to be safe on your trip–let’s get you in a loaner.” Not 15 minutes later, I was driving away in a 2022 Launch Green Quad R1T, ready for my trip.
Even better: less than two hours later, Danielle called me while I was at my home office, “Hey, Alec–we got that all fixed for you!” Turns out an air line was pinched, causing the air suspension to fail at auto-leveling, which was causing all of the front sensor issues. The SLC Service Center team diagnosed and repaired the issue in less than three hours, the day before my road trip, with no appointment. It sounded like just before me, they also saved someone who was actively ON a road trip and far from home.
Feeling very lucky to have such an amazing team at this SC, and grateful for Rivian in general. I hear and read plenty about poor service experiences, but mine have been nothing short of amazing every time! Thanks, Danielle!!
PS: got to sit in the R2 while I was waiting around, in between scheduled test drives. VERY excited to get one of these in the driveway in October 🙌🏼

Do not buy from here. Find another dealer. They are awful to work with. They brought me my $108k car with the passenger door not working. They sent me a work estimate trying to charge me for labor to fix it. Even tho they delivered a brand new car with an issue. They claim they have no way around it. But any smart person doesn’t sign paperwork that isn’t correct and then bring them your car. Would not recommend. We’ve owned this and a Tesla. Tesla is by far better. Hope that helps.

Worked quickly and efficiently on recall work related to suspension toe line fasteners. Additionally, they were very liberal (in my favor) with some issues I was hoping to have covered under warranty. They were excellent to work with. Fantastic brand and service!

Rivian Service is the best car service experience I have ever hard and might be the best service experience I have ever had. From the phone call to set up the appointment (which was very detailed, very professional, and very thorough, to the follow up to the appointment, and now to the arrival at the service center. They also send daily updates of where they are at with the repair. I hope they continue to poor money into this service experience because it genuinely will make me buy one again. 10 times better than Tesla. And in a league of their own against legacy automakers.
In February I left my mail in a loaner and they dropped the mail off at my house. A traditional dealership would have thrown it away in two seconds.
Incredibly impressed with every touch point at Rivian!
