Being that it's been way too long since I've been to a dentist, I now have damage requiring extensive repair. The entire team was great! Everything was clearly explained what needs to be done and why. We were able to work out an affordable plan to stop further damage. I'm looking forward to fixing everything and getting my smile back.

I had my wisdom teeth removed here a few days ago, and it was one of the worst healthcare experiences I’ve ever had.

Before my appointment, I was told I would not have to pay anything beyond what had already been discussed. However, once the procedure began, the dentist determined that my bottom impacted wisdom tooth was too difficult and painful to remove while I was awake and recommended that I be placed under sedation. The dentist genuinely tried to advocate for me, which I appreciated.

Unfortunately, when Britney, the business manager, came into the room, the experience took a turn for the worse. Her first comment to me was, “You can’t afford this.” Rather than discussing my options professionally or compassionately, she immediately made me feel embarrassed and judged. I told her that her comment was rude, but instead of de-escalating the situation, she raised her voice and continued telling me that I didn’t have the money for the procedure.

No patient should ever be spoken to that way, especially at a practice that advertises helping patients access affordable dental care. Financial conversations can be handled with dignity and respect. Instead, I left feeling humiliated during an already stressful and painful situation.

To make matters worse, Britney was also extremely rude to my partner when we were trying to receive a refund for the tooth that could not be removed because I was unable to undergo the procedure without sedation.

The dentist was kind and did his best to help me, but the way the business manager treated both me and my partner completely overshadowed that. I cannot recommend this office based on the lack of professionalism, compassion, and respect we experienced.

1. Booked Aspen thinking it was an emergency dentist as my regular dentist was out of town and not seeing anybody. Thought this because when you type emergency dentist on google, aspen is the first thing that comes up. They also speak on their website about if you’re in pain, you can come in right now! Sounds like an emergency dentist to me. It’s not, and that’s fine, but the owner/ office manager wasn’t very nice when I told her this. She said people think this all the time, but I should have gone to urgent care. Maybe change your website then?
2. I didn’t know this until after my appointment, so I was given X-rays. The staff was very nice and this is why I gave 2 stars. However it doesn’t matter how nice you are if you can’t identify a problem. I even told the tech and hygienist that I was here because my current dentist couldn’t see me. They never said anything about them not being an emergency dentist. When I told the office manager she said “oh, they wouldn’t know, they’re just hygienists and xray techs” seems like you should all be on the same page, but what do I know.
3. I went in for tooth pain like I’ve never had in my life. After the X-rays the dentist said nothing was wrong and I should take ibeprofin. Still have been in pain since (this was a month and a half ago) but just waited until my yearly teeth cleaning with my regular dentist.
4. I went in today, and showed them the X-rays I did with ASPEN. As soon as I went in, my current dentist redid an xray of the spot and found that my tooth was infected at the root. ASPEN didn’t know this because their xray only showed the tooth, and stopped before it showed the root, so they didn’t see it. I have had a tooth infection for a month and most likely did when I went to ASPEN because they didn’t xray all the way down. Seems really silly to not do an entire xray with the root of the tooth. Since they aren’t an emergency dental, I got the new patient experience. All the X-rays and scans they could have done. And because they didn’t do a full X-ray or show the root of the tooth, had I not gone back to my current dentist I would have continued to have an INFECTION in my tooth and they wouldn’t have known. Not sure how that happens. Seems extremely careless. I’m on antibiotics now, however my infection has obviously gotten worse because I was told “nothing was wrong, stop clenching your teeth”

The hygienist, tech, and dentist were very nice, albeit obviously oblivious to what was wrong with my teeth. Don’t recommend.

I had an interesting but great experience at Aspen Dental South St. Louis City location. When I arrived a patient who was there was having a mental episode and no matter how disturbing the person was at times the staff showed patience and remained professional. The staff allowed me to assist the patient even though it was my turn for my appointment. They were patient nice and courteous as I attempted to calm the patient.
Daveona was the staff member that assisted me with xrays and assisted in the room. She was professional, kind and courteous.
Brittany the office manager assisted me with the financial process and made sure I understood everything and asked me did I have any questions. She thanked me for helping with the patient, helped me get thru the financing part and gave me a date to pick uo teeth which made me extremely HAPPY!!! Oh and I can't forget about the young lady in the black dress with flowers sitting behind the desk who assisted me in calming the distressed patient and keeping her singing , occupied and safe. Thank you girl!!!!
GREAT STAFF OF GREAT PEOPLE SERVICING THE COMMUNITY!!! ALL 10'S ACROSS THE BOARD.
