I went to Ashley G looking like a hobo with hair problems and left looking and feeling like a king among men. The banter while getting my ears lowered was top notch and I learned a thing or two about beard oils while at it. The added head massage and hot face towel made me feel pampered and cared for. Don’t believe me that a barber shop could provide such amazing service? Then take a read about what my mom said when I FaceTimed her after my cut. “Who’s my handsome boy? You are! I went in for the full service and Tanya did a great job. The haircut was sharp and exactly what I wanted. She shampooed, did the hot towel treatment, and finished the back with a straight blade shave.

Seven years of loyalty — ended in one appointment

Today, October 17, 2025, I had my 11:00 AM appointment with Sonia V at Best of 7 Barbers, Bow Valley Square, under the name Sunny. What unfolded during that 40-minute session was one of the most uncomfortable and demeaning experiences I’ve ever had in a professional setting.

I have been a loyal client of Best of 7 Barbers for seven years — from when they operated three locations to now two. For the first three years, Carmelita was my barber, and every visit was something I genuinely looked forward to. There was warmth, conversation, and a sense of personal connection that made me feel valued. That was the Best of 7 I stayed loyal to.

Today, that spirit was nowhere to be found. My time in the chair felt cold, dismissive, and deeply disrespectful. It wasn’t about the haircut — it was about how I was made to feel. I was treated not as a regular client of seven years, but as an inconvenience. There was a complete lack of empathy and professionalism.

At one point, while already halfway through my haircut, the barber had the audacity to say, “You can still walk out if you want.” No professional should ever speak to a client that way — especially after beginning the service. That moment alone summed up the complete loss of dignity I felt during the entire appointment. I closed my eyes just to get through it.

What was once a relationship built on trust and respect has been broken beyond repair. I never imagined my long streak with Best of 7 Barbers would end this way, but it did — not because of a bad haircut, but because of how I was made to feel as a person.

If this is the level of service and attitude that continues, it’s no surprise they went from three locations to two — and it may soon be one. I sincerely hope management takes a hard look at who represents their brand and how long-term clients are treated.

This was my last haircut with Best of 7 Barbers.

I just had an amazing beard trim from Jessica. She also helped me tame the face mane with some product. Very knowledgeable, polite, and comforting. I strayed away from my long term barber only due to schedule constraints, and I had a bit of anxiety due to this. As a person with skin sensitivities and a beard, I trust Adrian with my beard and haircuts. He’s always thorough and excellent with attention to details. It’s hard finding consistent barbers.

I haven’t tried other barbers at this location but if Adrian is any example of the talent they draw, I am pretty confident you won’t be disappointed.

Also if you’re busy and you have a regimented work schedule, make sure to book an appt before showing up. They are very prompt and on schedule so you won’t need to grab a magazine or a book (or wherever you scroll to find your dopamine fix) while you wait because you won’t be waiting long.

Ive been a happy repeat customer of “Best of Seven Barbers” at both downtown locations over the last couple of years. Primarily, I’ve been served by Tara. She is very personable and does a high quality cut. I like the extra care with the related services including shoe shine, beard trim, hot towel service and shampoo/conditioning and scalp massage. When I need product there is always a well stock selection including layrite, beard oil and beard balm. Basically they are a one-stop shop and I’d highly recommend Best of Seven and Tara specifically. JB :)

My last visit was with Kristina, who expertly coloured my hair blonde. She was friendly, informative, and did such an amazing job.
