I first tried Rudy at the end of May, hoping it would be a better experience than another local burger spot we had recently visited. Let’s just say… it completely exceeded my expectations.

In fact, I’ve loved it so much that we’ve been coming back once a week ever since. My husband is convinced I’m eventually going to hit my “I’m tired of it” phase and refuse to eat it for months. 😂 So far, that day hasn’t come.

Whether we’ve visited for a weekday lunch or on the weekend, Rudy has been consistently excellent.

For the two of us, we usually spend around $40, and honestly, it’s worth every penny.

Parking is what you’d expect along the Danforth, but we’re lucky enough to walk there most of the time. The restaurant itself is small, casual, and has that classic neighbourhood burger joint feel. During one visit on a hot day, the front door was left open and a few flies wandered inside, but it honestly didn’t take away from the experience. I was too busy looking forward to my burger.

I always order The Rudy, while my husband never strays from the Big Rudy. He also gets the poutine, while I can’t resist their fresh fries.

Everything is made fresh, and that’s exactly why I recommend eating here rather than taking it to go. The burgers arrive hot, juicy, and perfectly assembled, and the staff always bring the food over to your table, even though it’s more of a casual counter-service restaurant. It’s a small touch that I really appreciate.

The smash burger is exactly how I like it. The edges of the patty have that perfect crispy crust while the inside stays juicy. The bun holds everything together without overpowering the burger, and every bite is balanced. I honestly haven’t had a single disappointing burger here.

The fries deserve their own mention. They’re always hot, fresh, and beautifully crispy. My husband’s poutine is equally delicious, with rich gravy and fresh cheese curds. If I had one tiny critique, it’s that I personally prefer cheese curds with a little more squeak, but that’s being incredibly picky.

Service has been consistently friendly, welcoming, and efficient every single visit. The team genuinely seems happy to be there, and customer service at this location is top-notch.

The restaurant can get busy, and sometimes there’s a short wait, but it’s absolutely worth it. Every table has condiments readily available, tables are cleared quickly, and even the music always seems to fit the fun, laid-back vibe.

Rudy has officially become my favourite burger spot. After months of coming back weekly, the quality has never slipped, and that’s what keeps us returning. Next on my list is finally trying one of their milkshakes. But until then, I’ll happily keep ordering The Rudy.

For Valentine’s Day 2026, Rudy’s had a special deal for smashburgers: single cheeseburger for $5 at all locations. I went to the Danforth one and ordered two and they were so delicious and fresh! The beef had crispy edges and the bun was so soft! The Rudy’s sauce was delicious and I liked the basic toppings of lettuce and tomato. It was a little small but it looked beautiful.

I went when they opened at 11am and glad it wasn’t busy. They had several tables to dine at and the vibe was warm. The service was fast and friendly especially from Purnima who I wished her a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Highly recommend this location. I’ve tried many smashburgers in Toronto and Scarborough and these are one of the best!

Update:
June 17 2026 was Rudy's 10th Anniversary and offered $10 deal for 2 smashburgers! Super delicious as always! Definitely had a FOODgasm!!!

This is a smash burger franchaised restaurant, with 12 locations. The first store started in 2016 in Toronto. I've been to several of these restaurants and the food has always been excellent, especially with the smash burger with crispy edges, using a special technique.

They will also customize their fries with no salt if you request it. Tattooed means adding bacon for +$2.99.

We came on 2026-06-17 because they have a special of two "The Rudy" ($8.99) for $10, because they were celebrating their 10th anniversary. It was quite busy.

We ordered the following:
1. Thin Cut Fries ($4.99).
2. The Rudy (4 for $20).
We lived then so much, we ordered another:
3. The Rudy (2 for $10).

Even though they were busy, it only took 15 mins to get our first order. Our first order was #188 at 19:00. At 19:25, our second order was #209, so they had 21 orders in 26 mins! This order took 18 mins.

There are four tables and counter seating indoors, and three small tables outdoors. Every indoor tables has the following condiments: ketchup, vinegar, salt, and pepper.

There is free WiFi. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms downstairs, hence they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid and free neighbourhood street parking. There is one high chair for little children.

Burger was great! I like mine with lots of toppings so I got the Rude Dude and added pickles and onions to it! Burger was top tier, fries were ….. middle of the road. I think many other spots have nailed how to do fresh fries and these didn’t meet that. Still a great spot.

Great experience, the food was good. The hours are good for a late night outing. I got the Rudy, which is the smallest burger on the menu, and it's good for when your partially hungry. My friends got the bigger ones, and they looked really good as well. Smash Burgers are really good. Customer service was amazing! They seem to have joy no matter the circumstance. While moving a table to combine tables the condiments try fell off and the salt broke, so there was salt, broken glass and some vinegar in the floor, and the woman employee cleaned it up and reassured us it was fine, and did so without an ounce of annoyance. We stayed for a bit without ordering because we were waiting for friends, and they didn't rush us. And after we all finished eating we stayed and chatted till past 12am, and they didn't rush us out again. It was a good experience. The only thing (which wouldn't take away from the rating), would be the music was really loud, but once my friend asked if they could turn the music down a bit, they were agreeable to it.

Ordered a poutine from Rudy’s as I had been craving a authentic poutine. Cheese curds that don’t melt, darkish gravy, and crunchy fries. From the reviews and photos the poutine looked promising. I ordered on Uber Eats and asked for the cheese and gravy in the side because often times when ordering a poutine it arrives soggy. I’m happy to say the poutine was amazing! I love a poutine where the cheese curds don’t melt… that’s a real poutine 🤤. I’ll have to try their burgers next time!

The Rudy burger was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and very flavourful. The bun was soft and fluffy - it's definitely a great burger. The smashed patty is a bit small, but it hits the spot. The pickle fries were great! they were freshly crisp and the inside was tangy. The dipping sauce was a nice addition. The poutine was a bust. It was mushy and bland. I wouldn't get it again.

We sat outside (they have two tables with two chairs each), but there are plenty of options inside. Bathrooms were clean, but downstairs, so not accessible to all

Was craving a burger and of course went to Rudy’s in the neighborhood!
• It was during dinner time, so we waited around 15-20 mins for one burger. I got the Rude Dude (double cheeseburger) for takeout and it was sooo yummy 🤤
• The patties were slightly overcooked, but we still gobbled it up! Also a bit sad that we got half a lettuce leaf (more so funny) 😭
• Loved the retro feel to the place! It was cozy and casual ~

We would come again to try other burgers and menu items like the shakes! :)

The double Rudy burger was underwhelming. The patties are too small, too thin, and too fried. Every bite gets you more of the crunchy fried crust than meat. The staff is charming and helpful though so this is not on them. The burger is not worth it if it'll cost 15CAD. The Dave's double(and triple) burger from Wendy's is higher quality. see my picture below.

I first learned of RUDY a few months ago. It looked like a classic burger joint that I would really like. I finally had the chance to try it. Was I disappointed? Not quite. Was I just a little bit underwhelmed? Absolutely. My experience at this location was good but nothing to write home about. The dining area was simple, but stark. The kitchen was visible, but unclean. The menu was refined, but overpriced. I do not feel that I got good value. The burger that I ordered was $13.49, the small poutine was $7.99, and a can of pop was a shocking $2.49! I wouldn't have thought twice about the cost if the burger had been better. The smash burger did not have enough ground beef. There was an issue with the beef-to-bun ratio. The potato bun was good. The RUDY sauce was delicious. I would have liked more toppings on the burger. The lettuce, onions, pickles, and American cheese were all tasty. The poutine with thick-cut fries was absolutely perfect. There is no way that any component of that dish could have been improved. The can of pop was a ripoff. The customer service was great. As a matter of fact, we were even given a complimentary brownie because it was our first time there.

Awesome classic style burgers, solid poutine with squeaky cheese, nice strawberry shake (not sure how it was made, but tasted great). Service was great, for fast food joint. They were super busy, so definitely order ahead of time.

I had an amazing experience at Rudy Restaurant! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. And the burger? Absolutely delicious—one of the best I’ve had in a long time! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend!

Total rip off, paid 50$ for two rude dude combos and got two JR cheeseburgers and extra small poutines. I was still hungry afterwards. The burgers had soggy lettuce and the patties were way over cooked. I understand that they are smash burgers and the edges are supposed to be crunchy but the whole burger was dry. Do yourself a favor and order from somewhere else. Absolutely outraged by the price. See attached photos, included a fork for size.
